It's certainly not Marijuana, Cliffy. Maybe its the Holy Eucharist that gives me these delusions. I'm hardly a weekly communicant.. but at least i'm an occasional communicant.. and when i can with the Tridentine Latin Mass.. which provides the authentic latin liturgy.. away from the disordering instrument of modern vernacular Mass (Novus Ordo).. which is the most insipid of clones.. and imho is in part responsible for the influx of homosexual predators and frauds into Holy Orders.. by way of venting its mysticism and reverence.
Homosexuality and child abuse have been with us from the beginning of time.. but only in periods of societies in deep decline.. racked with confusion and pessimism is it elevated to the rank of normalcy, even the highest standard accorded to any group of our politically correct society.. that of victim.. due special protection and veneration.
That is Benedict's point.. we are willingly de-constructing the moral parameters and institutions on which our society is founded.. accepting all actions as corresponding only to relative ideas of gratification (now stipulated as a 'human right').. and none to an absolute sense of Good and Evil.. or right and wrong. That will eat up and destroy any civilization.. economically, scientifically and in terms of lawful social order and peace. The alternative is chaos... of warring gangs.. of misery and addiction.. and rampant predation.. Essentially the ethos of the ghetto.. 'gay' or otherwise.

In the West, 4 - 6% of Catholic priests have at some point in their ministries been involved with pederasty (which in more truly associated with homosexuality than pedophilia). That comes from in depth studies done by the Church investigating the abuse scandals.Those range from singular events to habitual conduct. In the Eastern and Oriental Rites it is much less common, as there are much stronger social prohibitions against homosexuality in these cultures.
If your point is there are priests involved with adult sexual encounters.. of course there are... and since these are normally only admitted to in the confessional, there's no way of knowing how prevalent it is. You can probably use a rule of thumb that in any demographic 80% of the people will be honest and genuine in their vocations and vows.... 20% will be disingenuous and exploitive.
