I think I would rather believe the guy who got us out of deficit financing and who is responsible for the great shape our economy is in.
Martin promises tax cuts that would put $600 into familes pockets and he is the second coming.
Harper promises $1,200 and everyone has to break it down to $25 per week.
He balanced the budget by crippling health care and other social programs.
That's because people tend to pay for child care on a weekly or monthly basis. If he was offering $25 a day, it would have roughly the same impact as the NDP plan, but at an incredibly high cost. Harper wants to pay June Cleaver's babysitting bill so she can go to her knitting club once a week. He's out of touch with Canadians.
That's true, and like Harper's plan it is inherently biased towards the wealthy. The breakdown on Harper's GST cut, assuming he ever got it through, would give rich people $600...$50 a week; working and lower middle class people about $400...$30 a week; and poor people about $200...less than $17 a week. Dropping the GST from specific items and keeping the overall rate the same would do more to help the poor and working class.
Martin's immediate cuts look better for the working and middle class, but his longer range plans again pander to the wealthy.
And what would Harper do? The same thing, but quicker and meaner. Nice choices you guys are making.
Harper wants to give Canadians a choice. Whether it's mothers staying at home, paying Aunt Unice or going to a day care centre, every child gets the same amount of funding.
The point of the GST is that ALL Canadians pay GST no matter how rich or poor they are. Martins tax cuts do absolutely nothing for those on welfare or those that make little or no income.
These are not even answers. Quicker and meaner?
Reverend Blair said:Harper wants to return to the 1950s. Proper child care costs money and the most efficient way of providing it is through not-for-profit daycares. Those facilities also employ professionals so your kid can actually learn something while they're there.
Canadians still do have a choice, btw. Nobody is talking about kids being forced into daycare. If you want to stay home or leave your kid with drunken old Aunt Unice, that's up to you.
Just going on Harper's record. He would have cut social programs more deeply. He would have scrapped the Canada Health Act and brought in private care.
Yes, god forbid uneducated parents actually raise children. Who knows what would happen? Rolling Eyes Just typical of you lefties: government always knows better.
So would Layton if you listen to him these days. Or would he? Its hard to tell with his flip flopping. What does he stand for anyway?
