It would be nice if some fringe parties like Marijuana and greens (I don't like greens as they are cons with fauna) just to spice up the parliament and even hold the balance somewhat, if the NDP and Libs do not have enough seats for a loose coalition.

135 for libs and 99 for cons. Interesting.

Thanks for the link "I think not". :)

I found it interesting, try this, swing 3% throughout Canada from the Liberals to the Conservatives and look at the results. Funny stuff.

Well if it is, and more than likely will be another liberal minority, things will stay the same. So Harper is really costing tax payers money for an uneccessary election.

He must be stupid as the knives will be out when he fails to deliver this time.

Come on, even the NDP agrees, and they didn't have to do this.

Ed Broadbent was the deciding vote....

It doesn't matter if the Libs get another minority. At least we will have a legitimate government again.

And doesn't that show integrity?

It's not really the same, Jay. The NDP did try to make things work. The Conservatives have been going out of their way to make things fail. Your party is inherently negative and has brought us into what promises to be the most negative campaign in memory.

It doesn't matter if the Libs get another minority. At least we will have a legitimate government again.

You mean you'll tell your heroes to sit down, shut up, and do their jobs for change?

And doesn't that show integrity?

All I've seen from Harper is a msug lust for power.

New poll shows numbers similar to last election

A teaser:

According to the results of a new poll, 54 per cent of Canadian voters may be ready for change in government, but there's nothing so far to indicate a breakthrough by any political party in the latest numbers.

Last spring the numbers were reversed, with 38 per cent approving and 49 per cent disapproving of the nation's course.

"This suggests that there is a modest opportunity for the Liberals to marshal a campaign that the country is in good shape," The Strategic Counsel wrote in its latest survey results.

If a vote were held last weekend, The Strategic Counsel poll found ( change from Nov. 7 numbers in brackets):

* 35 per cent would support Paul Martin's Liberals (no change)
* 29 per cent would vote for Stephen Harper's Conservatives (-1)
* 17 per cent would vote for the NDP (-1)
* 14 per cent would vote for the Bloc Quebecois (+1)
* 5 per cent would vote for the Green Party (-3)

Hi no1

I've been reading little bits and pieces here and there that suggest that support for the Bloc is dwindling. It might mean that the Libs might pick up a few more in Quebec. The polls are a bit volatile in that there is a fairly wide range of results that are hard to put down to definite support for one party or another.

Well there will be polls released daily if not twice a day now until the election, the interesting ones will be the ones in January after Christmas as I think most people have Christmas not elections on the mind now.

The other thing is is not to take polls too seriously as ones released in last 5 or 6 days are all over the place.

The bloc should stay at 50 seats min up to 60 unless low voter turnout and libs steal a couple, but with Quebec being all wrapped up in Gomery I think there will be a high turn out there.

Of course a lot can happen between now and then too. But it should be an interesting 8 weeks or so anyhow.

Anyways I will be back on later, I bought "March of the Penguins" so I am going to watch it now. :)

Libs-37%
Cons-29%

What the...?? I just heard on the radio a couple hours ago a poll has the Libs & Cons virtually in a dead heat. Don't know who did it, though.

That was an old poll from 2 days ago that had them tied. There seems to be a new poll daily. Yesterdays was 35-29 for libs and day before it was 31-31. Who knows what tomorrows will be? Like last election if memory serves me right the polling was way off base.

To me it is funny Harper can not capitalize more on Gomery. Very bizzare.

But most polls have libs up by 7-10 and cons stuck at 27-29%. Weird.

But the only poll that matters is on Jan 23. Hopefully their is a big turnout.
