Oh, horse shit! Every American knows that the primary means of transportation in Canada are canoes and dogsleds. Y'all don't need gas.

The movies wouldn't lie to us!
I haven’t seen that one but I’ve heard about it.

This was set a long time ago as it’s been a while since Saskatchewan had mountains (I think they ran more or less east to west at that point) though.

That would be the Canadian Shield now would it not? Think it covers the northern part of SK before it dips south in Ontario. But there would not be any people around when they were that size.

Saskatchewan drivers are enduring more pain at the gas pumps.

Gas prices hit another record in the province on Tuesday as some stations in Saskatoon and Regina began hiking prices to $1.95.9 per litre.

Gas analyst and president of Canadians for Affordable Energy Dan McTeague said even with the higher cost of driving, people are not parking their vehicles.

“While we’re complaining a lot, it’s not slowing down demand for diesel and for gasoline,” said McTeague.

“It really speaks to the shortage, a shortage that has been a long time coming given the Canadian government’s policies of killing pipelines and attacks on the oil and gas sector.”

The latest increase comes with oil prices hovering over $110 per barrel this week.

The Saskatchewan NDP has pushed for relief measures from the provincial government to help make life easier for drivers feeling the pinch at the pumps.

Alberta has paused the collection of the provincial tax on gas and diesel sales, and while Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said his government is looking at measures to help people manage the increasing cost of living, he stopped short of committing to cutting the fuel tax.

McTeague doesn’t see any relief in the future.

With the summer driving season in Canada ramping up, the war in Ukraine and lockdowns lifting in China, McTeague said oil supplies will remain tight.

“All of these things could lead to higher gas prices,” McTeague predicted.

“(Saskatchewan) is really on the doorstep of the $2 reality. It’s likely we could see prices go higher, not just here, but right across around the world.”

McTeague said he believes it won’t be long before the average gas price in the country surpasses $2 per litre.
Personally, my Girlfriend & I each have a 70L tank on our vehicles. We’re each trying to limit ourselves to 1 tank per vehicle per month. Combined that’s 140L at $1.95/L so $273.00 a month in fuel….

I commute in mine to work in the morning, home at lunch, back to work for the afternoon, & home afterwards….with the occasional “only a truck can do this” run to either the garage dump or Waxies Bobcat, etc…so I’m getting 88 trips to or from work and a few other odd trips out of a tank of fuel in a month…with a 5.3L carbureted Magnum V8. Driving very gently….

We do all of our other running (pharmacy, appointments, groceries, trips to the office once or twice a weekend, etc…) in the fuel sipping Suzuki SUV. That’s not insurance or maintenance, etc…just fuel. With my Girlfriend being permanently disabled this SUV is part of her independence.

We are at the bare minimum for fuel usage for our lifestyle at this point regardless of what the price of fuel or carbon taxes does. Every increase in fuel now just subtracts something else.

Huh... so Trudeau is responsible for the gas uptick in Europe too and other places all over the world? All because he kills pipelines? Attacks the oil and gas sector?

(sarcasm, obviously).

Trudeau could remove the carbon tax, MAYBE mandate a bit of the price and make it a national one price for all, no going beyond this point, thing, but blaming him solely for the rise is flat out stupid.

He's NOT the sole reason for it.

When gas keeps going up, and people can't afford it, but we gotta have it because work and life in general, yet oil companies are getting record profits and producing nations COULD up their production to meet the demand but won't because high prices help THEM too (fuck Saudi, just saying)..

Well, yeah, let's blame Trudeau! And Biden! Cause they're the only ones at fault!

Completely responsible? No. Contributing to? Yes.
Trudeau could remove the carbon tax,
Yes. Would it solve things? No. Would it help? Yes.

Agreed. The last time a Trudeau tried that it didn’t work well for anyone. He’s not solely responsible, but that doesn’t mean he holds no responsiblity.
He's NOT the sole reason for it.

We could be one of those producing nations to a greater extent with the taxation offsetting what each individual taxpayer pays to the financial benefit of our nation as a whole, or we could do what we’re currently doing.

Only? No. Innocent. No. Could things be done differently to the financial benefit of Canadians & Americans both? Yes.

And yet he's the favourite subject of total blame for, well, too many people. That's the point.

That won't happen and it's not the fault of just Trudeau.

IMO even if we did use our own 'oil', it'd benefit NEITHER us or the US, because it'd go to the wider market and there would be no kickbacks what so ever to us.

The ONLY reason we should be shipping and developing our own oil is to use it for OUR benefit, first and foremost.

And - regardless of personal opinion - the view that the oil we have is "dirty" is why our oil isn't in that much demand, and that's not on Trudeau either. That happened years and years ago.

Trudeau is at fault for a shit ton - and yes, as I said, he could do more to help mitigate prices - but the 'he's the reason' crowd need to STFU and start pushing for real solutions, not just bitch because the "Liberal" is in charge while this shit is going on.

Liberals have been in power for the majority of Canada’s existence, they are the Natural Governing Party after all .

Yeah, total conspiracy.

Appears that the crippling "incentives" that lead to "better behavior....uh...better choices" is apparently exactly what he wants. And we all know that what groper wants, he gets. Inflicting pain on the population, sign of a true leader.

Yep, That's why the only country in the world suffering record-high gas prices is Canada.

That not true, there a several countries with cheap fuel..

The countries producing the most oil and with refineries have the cheapest fuel..

The USA was a net exporter of fuel during Trump and had cheap fuel..

Biden (your God) has reversed that, from canceling Keystone to Leases in Alaska, USA and Gulf

Canada with the right government could be a strong net exporter of energy..
