Yes, and I wouldn't suspect any one of the honourable members has ever been guilty of taking on a cell phone while driving (Just as deadly as impaired driving according to the authorities)
Not illegal in my province.

I’m sure that members here will be hoping for The Baron Black’s vindication as well, though, since he should be recognised for what he did before robbing seniors blind.
C’mon, guys, this is ridiculous.
Yup, someone with multiple convictions for driving under the influence—someone with so little regard for the personal safety of others—should be heralded with the nation’s highest honour! Not. Mr. Fonyo has had his membership revoked per the Policy and Procedure for Termination of Appointment to the Order of Canada, which he would have been aware of when he was appointed as an Officer thereof—the fact is that Mr. Fonyo is a convict, and no longer deserves to be recognised as a representative of Canadian excellence. We don’t know how long this decision was in the making; he’s been an Officer of the Order for twenty-six years, so the ball could have started rolling at any time for this.
On that note, the Advisory Council is also reviewing the appointment of The Right Honourable The Lord Black of Crossharbour P.C., O.C. for revocation, since his appeals have also now been exhausted and his conviction stands. I’m sure that members here will be hoping for The Baron Black’s vindication as well, though, since he should be recognised for what he did before robbing seniors blind.
Excellent post.

I agree; the thing to note is the waiting until all appeals have been exhausted.
So they took away the Officer of the Order of Canada from Fonyo for getting involved with drugs, alcohol and petty crime.. but granted the award to Henry Morgentaler, the mass murderer of those in our society who are the most vulnerable and have the least voice, the unborn.
Oh, you again.
Still upset by abortions, huh?
What was that saying again? Oh,here it is: if you don't like abortions, DON'T HAVE ONE!
So they took away the Officer of the Order of Canada from Fonyo for getting involved with drugs, alcohol and petty crime.. but granted the award to Henry Morgentaler, the mass murderer of those in our society who are the most vulnerable and have the least voice, the unborn.
Our pathetic twit of a Chief Justice, Bev McLachlin, the chairwoman of the nominating committee of the Order, and someone of astounding moral and intellectual mediocrity, has turned the award into a scrap of tin.
I wouldn't worry about if i were Fonyo, increasingly it made him party to bad company.
How magnaminous of you, Tenpenny, in giving away the lives of others.

"Repeated theft, fraud, assault, aggravated assault, plus numerous motor vehicle felonies is hardly petty crime. Fonyo belongs where he is; In jail."
It seems people are dwelling too much on the symptoms of the problem and not on the causes. I've had more than my share of connectivity with drug addiction, and if you haven't had a personal connection you simply do not understand it. I personally have zero tolerance for any drugs or association with people who use them but I do understand how they can destroy a person (sadly sometimes permanently) These people do things that are totally out of character, because once they are addicted there is very little they can do to help themselves. None of us know the pain, fear suffering Fonyo underwent with his cancer or what pain killers he was on at the time. None of us know the extent of the affect his father's terrible death had on him. Until we have to walk a mile in his shoe, we shouldn't be judging him.
...we shouldn't be judging him.
And besides that, there are many people who have been hooked on prescription drugs and kicked them, hooked on illicit drugs and kicked them, hooked on alcohol and kicked that, had cancer and either beat it or not, lost a limb or saved one, etc. He started out doing great. After a while he screwed up and kept screwing up. He should have sought help and now he even says he should have, but he didn't. He'll always be recognized for doing what he did, but he'll always be recognized for the crap that he pulled, too.Normally, with 99.99% of humanity I would agree with you.
That's the 99.99% who DON'T accept membership to the 'we're better than you' club. Fonyo chose to accept membership to the Order, set up specifically for us to all look up to and pay attention to. Hard not to judge someone who invites it.
