Actually, Dion single handedly saved the Montreal Protocol from collapse. Canada led the world in framing the agreement that led to significant action to deal with the ozone crisis. Later, under the Liberals not much was done about climate change. That is, in part, because of the ridiculous division of powers in this country: nothing could be done withour provincial agreements and, given Alberta's oil dependency, just like today, nothing is done.

The Liberals had made some agreements with the provinces under Chretien/Martin. One of the forst acts of Harper was to cancel the little progress that had been made.

So what actions did Canada take? Signing an agreement isn't an action.
Please list what actions happened under the Liberals, other than words and vague promises.

You wouldn't believe how green the Okanagan is this year, Petros, I haven't seen anything like it in over 40 years!
I'll find out in 12 days. I'm taking a couple crippled guys camping for a week at Bear Creek on the west side of the lake.

im sitting in a field right now in sk and even after 70 kmh winds all day yesterday its still wet.Poor farmers need just a few more days to finish seeding.

This wet weather plays havoc with my reclamation project.
It's June. "Rain" will come as 20 min downpours from here on out. Next real rain we'll see will be in late August. It will just be deadly T-storms for the next couple months.

Before you leave home you should check the net for washouts. Sunny here now but more rain forecast by early afternoon.

Are you trying to say that under the liberals, Canada was actually doing something bout environmental issues?

Other than talking, why exactly was done?

Nope I'm not, I'm saying the Conservatives have codified a denial policy and made it almost impossible for Canada to take a responsible role in a serious crisis that will almost certainly affect everyone on the planet to one degree or another.

The Liberals may have given lip service to climate change, but like so much else they did diddly-squat when it came to real action that would benefit anyone besides them and their interest base.

Back to synthetic crude, it's also much dirtier than conventional crude even after upgrading. It has about 8 times the sulphur content and wears out refinery equipment much faster and requires about 50% more energy to convert into consumer products. Even from an upgraded crude standpoint oil sands oil is dirtier and more carbon intensive than say Texas light crude.

I use synthetic crude as hair gel, true story.

Where do you come up with your bull****? Light crude (synthetic) has a sulfer content range of 0.07-0.13%

It's too bad that much of the world is starting to see us like this.

Canada Wins Fossil of the Year Award in Durban – Climate Action Network Canada

(Durban, South Africa) Today, Canada was awarded the dubious honour of Fossil of the Year for the fifth year running at COP17 in Durban, South Africa. Canadians in Durban were on hand to accept the award, and to pass it on to the next worst offender in recognition that Canada’s actions have become so egregious that they have been left behind on the sidelines of global climate progress.
“The Canadian Government’s inaction has led to it being constantly singled out as a laggard and even a pariah in these negotiations,” said Chris Bisson of the Canadian Youth Delegation, “They’ve made our country irrelevant to the United Nations’ efforts to combat climate change”

We used to stand for something more in the world even with the constant corruption scandals with the Liberals and the first Conservative Party.
