I call bullsh*t! Do you realize what 30 tons of garbage looks like. A full dump truck can carry about 5 tonnes so they would have to pull 6 truckloads out of there.

Do you realize how much garbage hundreds of people can generate in 2-3 months? These squatters are not campers, but pigs.

Hot off the Russian Today presses, err whatever.
SUN's partner.

With no real oraganized protest points once the Unions left and all that, I'm glad that thousands of homeless are now living in donated tents and somewhat although sometimes chaoticaly self organizing communities.

I haven't smelled piss in the ATM in months.

This Russia Today outlet has been gaining a lot of traction lately.

I don't fully understand the concept though.. Why are Russians reporting American news?

Global freedom of network speech. They have permits, no tents, rent Canadian satellite bandwidth and wicked tax credits up to 41% straight across the board to do it.

You mean they're not just doing this because they're Commies?

We are fair people. If we allow the Fascists run a TV news network with huge 41% tax credits we have to allow the Commies too.

Northern Ontario,
A couple of questions for you.

Were the protesters given time to clean up and pack their tents etc? Looks like some decent tents and sleeping bags and camping gear. I wouldn't have left it behind.

Oh and are you a complete idiot or just need glasses? I would say that once everything shown in your picture was crumpled and folded and piled there might be 5000 lbs (2.5 tons and that's a generous estimate) unless all the tent poles were solid lead and all the tarps were lead lined and the sleeping bags full of rocks.

Maybe the Americans (and you) weigh things different from the rest of us or maybe some people just want to denigrate the movement in any way possible.

Perhaps it's time to take a really positive approach towards the FAT CATS, time to closely scrutinize who are dealing with commercially. Are you getting a "bang for the buck"? Just yesterday I was informed (by my doctor) that Shoppers' Drug Mart is among the highest priced drug stores. Now, I think there may be a chance they provide an extra service, but there's a chance they don't or there's a chance they do but don't pertain to every customer. So if you are not benefitting by forking over extra cash at Shoppers you may want to boycott the outfit and find a cheaper provider. That should curtail a lot of fat cats. Apparently Walmart is a reasonably priced drug store.

The GOP's Talking Points to Spin Occupy Wall Street

GOP pollster Frank Luntz has advice for Republicans on how to talk about Occupy Wall Street: don't use the word "capitalism," say "I get it" to the protesters and never use the word "bonus" to talk about executive bonuses. The tips, as Yahoo News' Chris Moody recounted from a session with the Republican Governors Association last week, are vintage Luntz. His book has the subtitle: "It's not what you say, it's what people hear" and he's also helped usher in plenty of language shifts throughout the Bush years, like swapping the term "global warming" with "climate change."
It's a good guess that the messaging tips for the GOP about the Occupy movement will show up in Republican rhetoric. And Chris Moody arranges his quotes from the session into helpful bullet points. Here are just a few selections from Luntz's advice:
1. Don't say 'capitalism.'
"I'm trying to get that word removed and we're replacing it with either 'economic freedom' or 'free market,' " Luntz said. "The public . . . still prefers capitalism to socialism, but they think capitalism is immoral. And if we're seen as defenders of quote, Wall Street, end quote, we've got a problem."
Ok, so swap "capitalism" with "free markets," then:
6. Don't ever say you're willing to 'compromise.'
"If you talk about 'compromise,' they'll say you're selling out. Your side doesn't want you to 'compromise.' What you use in that to replace it with is 'cooperation.' It means the same thing. But cooperation means you stick to your principles but still get the job done. Compromise says that you're selling out those principles."
Sure, can't compromise with Occupiers. But then:
7. The three most important words you can say to an Occupier: 'I get it.'
"First off, here are three words for you all: 'I get it.' . . . 'I get that you're angry. I get that you've seen inequality. I get that you want to fix the system."
Then, he instructed, offer Republican solutions to the problem.
So, to recap: don't be in favor of compromising, but still make sure you properly feel the pain--vaguely--with the frustrations of occupiers while directing them to GOP talking points and peppering the conversation with the words "free markets."

They had weeks if not months to get their stuff together. It was not a surprise eviction.

Why are Russians reporting American news?

BBC has done it for years. It's good to have differing views on issues. Besides, each newspaper/media outlet in the USA has had a Moscow office and reported events there since the Soviet days.

Occupier gets an occupation

Down-on-her-luck protester Tracy Postert spent 15 days washing sidewalks and making sandwiches at Zuccotti Park — then landed a dream job at a Financial District investment firm thanks to a high-powered passer-by who offered her work.
“I never thought I would be doing this,’’ Postert admitted to The Post.

St. James Park gets post-Occupy Toronto makeover

TORONTO - St. James Park received a makeover on Thursday after being decimated by Occupy Toronto.
The park was left a muddy mess after five weeks of protests that would have cost the city more than $60,000 to repair, but the Ontario Sod Growers Association and Landscape Ontario stepped up to replace 11,000 square feet of sod.
“This is a generous donation to repair this park. (Thursday) we had 100 people volunteering plus 35 park staff,” said Richard Ubbens, the city’s director of parks.
“Everyone is pitching in. The BIA and the St. Lawrence Market has been providing food and later this month we will get the Christmas lights up.”
The donation was unexpected but very welcome, Councillor Norm Kelly said.
“Things can happen in a way you don’t expect. Who would have thought at the height of the occupation that residents would have a nicer park than they did before?” Kelly said.
Allard Devries of Devries Landscape, which was out helping with the makeover, it is just good to give back to the community.
“We want to get the park looking good again. Even though we are all competitors we can all come together,” Devries said.
Area resident Josh Nevsky said the park shouldn’t have been allowed to get to the state it was in.
“(During occupation) every day trying to get through the park was a nuisance. I think it is great it is getting fixed. It was a muddy mess,” Nevsky said.
The park just looks beautiful again, said Cheryl Manore.
“It is amazing. This is Christmas.”

Occupy protesters gone from park

Protesters encamped at Olympic Plaza since October are nowhere to be found, but in their place is an eight foot tall metal structure as well as a horde of signs.

The city won an injunction in court last Friday afternoon that made it illegal for the Occupy protesters to stay in the park or set up camp in any other park in the city. The 15 protesters remaining in the park said that they would not be leaving their camp despite the injunction.

But in a surprise move, the Occupy Calgary protesters left the park sometime last night but left an eight foot tall metal sculpture and about 50 signs set up all around the park.

However, CTV spoke with protesters in the park on Friday morning who said they had no idea the park would be vacated and wanted to defy the court order.

Protesters also say that there will be a press conference at 9 a.m.

The injunction ordered the protesters to leave the park by 2 p.m. and if they didn't leave, they would have been held in contempt of court.

Bill Bruce of the city's bylaw department says that he was expecting protesters to still be in the park until the 2 p.m. deadline.
Now, according to Bruce, bylaw officers will be going through the park and assessing the damage and cleaning up to make sure the park is ready for the winter season.

As for the metal installation, he says they'll impound it for 30 days and the issue on what to do with it will be brought before city council.

Generally there are 4 types of people in regard to social and political life:
A- Visionaries and thinkers: Dissatisfied with some aspects in the society and have ideas and views of how to improve or change them.
B- Activists and movers/shakers (not business): Exert pressure for improvement or change. There is overlap between A and B.
C- Passive loads: They do not like change but do not actively oppose it either.
D- Active loads: They do not like change and oppose it by different means.
Activists should be allowed to protest and we should thank them also for doing our part for us; we owe them a lot. All you have to do is look through history. All advancements, not only in social and political life but also in science, were made by groups A and B. While A & B improving life and taking humanity forward D is busy opposing or threatening them or in good old times imprisonment and/or burning. Group D view themselves as most adaptable and doing everybody a favor with acceptance of the status quo and keeping all others in line. Not knowing that they are doing the most harm. If it were up to group D (thank God it is not) humanity would have been still living under a rock. Galileo and Gandhi stories are simple examples and there are many others. I am sure their critics had their own reasons (excuses) exactly like now. The ratio between groups A+B and C+D determines how advanced or backward the society is or will be.

Occupy Wall Street Protester Gets Job on Wall Street Airdate : 12/9/2011

There are bold words from a woman who went from occupying Wall Street to occupying a desk on Wall Street!
"I'm not rich yet, but I plan to be," said Tracy Postert.

Just a few weeks ago, Postert was literally scrubbing the ground at the Occupy Wall Street camp in New York City.

But now she's on the ground floor of a career that could make her a millionaire. How did it happen?

Well, at some point Postert traded her "Never Vote Republican" sign for one that read: "Ph.D. Biomedical Scientist, Seeking Full-time Employment."

INSIDE EDITION's Les Trent asked, "How did you wind up with this sign?"

Postert said, "People were yelling at me, 'Get a job!' So I said, 'Okay, I will.' "

She caught the attention of Wayne Kaufman, Chief Market Analyst for John Thomas Financial, a financial services company on Wall Street
"She had her sign and said, 'Ask me for my resume,' and I did. It was so impressive I sent her an email," said Kaufman.

Kaufman hired Postert as a research assistant.

"She's terrific. Fits in exactly the way I had hoped," said Kaufman.

Of course, Postert is catching heat from some of the 99 percenters, now that she's working for the one percent.

"I'm not a sellout. I'm just a lower-class person who worked very hard for a degree and experience, and now I have a job that I think in the future will pay very well," said Postert.
