In fact America's poor are more obese than America's wealthy!

Obesity is a symptom of eating bad food, not of eating good food. I was watching an online program the other day from the Food Channel. It has been conclusively proven that the average American ate about 800 more calories per day in the 1970s but were much more slender. Therefore, it is not the consumption of good food that causes obesity. It is the consumption of foods with little or no food value that causes it. This is why the medical profession considers obesity an illness, not something to boast of.

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB

Clinton created 25 million jobs in his years but I suppose we could say BLAME BUSH!

No wait - BLAME GOPHER!

That hillbilly prez and his fangurl Pelosi were the ones that pushed the passing of the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000.

That was a major factor leading to the financial meltdown.

Who repealed the Glass/Stegal Act?

I think we've gone over this before. You may recall my previous use of this link:

Gramm

I believe we discussed the possibility that he made some deal with Republicans in Congress who agreed to go soft on him in the impeachment proceedings in exchange for legislation they wanted. But that was speculation, I think.

Occupy Wall Street Shows No Signs of Losing Steam

According to The Washington Post on Monday, Occupy Wall Street protesters were successful in blocking business operations at shipping terminals in Oakland, California, Portland, Oregon and Longview, Washington.

The movement, which began in the Fall, focuses on fighting against what its protesters see as corporate greed and economic inequality. To them, the ports are symbols of “economic engines for the elite.”

The protests were aimed at two West Coast companies in particular, port operator SSA Marine and grain exporter EGT, with the goal of improving the rights of their workers.

As reported by Fox News, Todd Gitlin, a sociologist at Columbia University and an authority on social movements, believes the Occupy Wall Street movement will continue to expand and diversity. "I would assume that the action today is going to be representative of what's going to be happening from now on," Gitlin said. "There will be more of a tendency toward militant disruptive activity. There's going to be a number of coordinated actions and this is going to go on for months."

Unfortunately the West Coast protests did not remain peaceful. In Seattle, police used “flash-bang” percussion grenades to break-up demonstrators and made arrests. Police Detective Jeff Kappel said protesters hurled flares, bags of paint and debris at officers and police horses, injuring one officer. Two others were arrested in Oakland for ignoring orders to unblock a gate where trucks were entering the port, reported interim Police Chief Howard Jordan.

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan is concerned about how the protesters will affect the people of the city this holiday season. “People have to think about the consequences,” she said. People have to think about who they are hurting. They are saying, ‘We want to get the attention of the ruling class.’ Well I think the ruling class is probably laughing, and people in this city will be crying this Christmas. It’s really got to stop,” as reported by Fox News.

While some longshoremen support the movement, many of the truck drivers who are were blocked from the docks said the demonstrators are harming those they are actually trying to help. Christian Vega, a driver carrying a load of recycled paper who experienced a delay due to the protest, according to the BBC, “This is a joke. What are they protesting? It only hurts me and the other drivers. We have jobs and families to support and feed. Most of them don't."

Although business resumed on Tuesday with the West Coast ports tallying losses, protesters declared victory with the intent of staging more demonstrations.

No sign of losing steam?

They were recently tossed from Dewie Square in Boston. A place where they were once welcomed and even provided with free electricity and city funded porta-potties.

After the City of Boston paid $2 Million to support these loafers they finally decided enough is enough.

It has failed and they have not changed a thing.

I disagree.

There has been tons of media coverage about unequal distribution of wealth where there was none prior and there have been some banking policies that have been enacted as a result of the movement.

That's not new news.

Has the wealth been distributed? Are there plans to distribute the wealth?

Banking policies? Meaning no new ATM fees at BOA? Wait around until things quiet down. They'll hike them first chance they get.

... Other than the 'occupiers' running away with their collective tails between their legs.

It's only a function of time before the media highlights the unequal contributions by individuals that results in the unequal distribution of wealth.

... That or the media focuses on the 'unequal' progressive tax system that punishes those that try and succeed.

Anyway, it's good to see people continuing to talk about it.

Well it was news when the occupiers were being a nuisance. Rich college kids, drug dealers, perverts, trouble makers, anarchists, all together sucking up resources that could have been used on the less fortunate. ;)

Not just eating bad food but eating LOTS of bad food. Lots and Lots of bad food at the taxpayers expence because you can buy whatever you darn well please with foodstamps. In addition you can buy so much that you can gorge yourself into obesity here in the U.S. and not have to pay for it.

Hunger in America? Hardly. Us Americans have no idea what TRUE hunger is... what TRUE starvation is.

Unburned calories are what causes weight gain. Good and bad foods can both have high caloric content. Of course good foods have more necessary vitamins and minerals which are important for good health, but you can get just as fat from eating steak as from eating pasta.

Ron, we have gone over this bit of news as well > the floodgates of nuke tech to China were opened during the Reagan-Bush years:

Consortiumnews.com

I have posted numerous links previously about this and the fact that Bush II did that and worse.

As for Billy Jeff and impeachment, well, that dealt with his predilection for cigars and for sex outside of his familial bed. After all with a frigid POC like Hillary you can't honestly blame the guy for doing that sort of thing.
