I have to assume your ass would sting just as bad in either place. The question still remains, do you think he was ever tempted to do the same crime?

People's Republic of China

All corporal punishment has been theoretically banned since the communist revolution in 1949. In practice, students are caned or paddled in some schools.[54][55]

It doesn't say that he damaged the paint on a car with a key, though.
It was spray-bombing in that article, still got his ass whupped even after all the bitching and whining by his American parents and various American dignitaries. I have to also assume some green Canadian Willow would sting just as bad, have it swung by the victim just to be sure it has the correct force.

Do you have a list of his other vandalism charges?

And, as a result of the investigations, he had 50 charges against him, 45 of which were for vandalism. And this vandalism involved criminal destruction, or damaging, of property, possessing stolen- stolen property, and also what you call acts of mischief. And, as a result of plea bargaining, he finally decided to plead guilty to two charges of vandalism, two charges of mischief, and one charge of possession of property, of stolen property. And, as a result of the plea bargaining, something like 16 of the vandalism charges, together with four of mischief, were taken into account in the sentencing, and 33 others were- were withdrawn.

You should have read this before you blindly posted your jumble.

But what does China have to do with an incident that happened in Singapore? Geez... get with it would you!

The specific location isn't all that important to me, the only reason I even remember it is his parents tried to get the US Gov to throw their weight in on it, and they did manage to get the number cut in half.
Obviously you have never been 'spanked with a switch of any kind'. Closest I came was a teachers pointer across the hand, stunk like hell for quite awhile and I never lipped off in the same way again for the rest of the term.

Facts usually aren't that important to you either.

Yeah... I loved that.

So you were kind of like that kid then. Didn't lip off "the same way for the rest of the term"? Well I guess it didn't "stunk" you too bad.

I love to see you turn into the grammar police when you can't say anything else. Take it as a sign that you are boring me to death.

Anarchist Vandals Taint Oakland OWS General Strike :
“The black bloc anarchist assault on the Royal Bank of Scotland building yesterday certainly had an air of being stage-managed. The target was announced in advance, the authorities knew that the building was a prime target, and yet it was the only one in the street not boarded up.
A cafe across the street was boarded up and yet the RBS building was left completely vulnerable to attack,” Paul Joseph Watson wrote on April 2, 2009.

Occupy Seattle Mob Tries to Pull Off ‘Citizen’s Arrest’ of JP Morgan CEO

Occupy Seattle appears to be pushing hard for its Robespierre moment.
Last night, amidst all the chaos and destruction wrought by the Occupiers in Oakland, a less widely-reported mob incident occurred in Seattle that showed another insidious tactic of the Occupy protest movement.
The Occupiers are not just pushing ideas– they are going after individuals. In this case, JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon was their target.
About 500 protestors surrounded the Sheraton hotel last night, according to the Daily Kos, where CEO Jamie Dimon was making a speech to the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. Hours after they surrounded the hotel’s perimeter and claimed they were going to conduct a “citizen’s arrest” on Dimon, protestors had to be dispersed with pepper spray by police in riot gear.

8OI'm following, but not too closely, the occupy events in the U.S. since this is where most of the criminal behavior by the uber rich, and the right went down in 2008.

The ubers and the right obviously don't take it too seriously, and that's a shame as a lot of people who have lost jobs and homes, do.

The dems (left?) are not exactly shedding tears either.

Instead there's been an attention shifter afoot re an attempt to focus the sheeple on Iran. A tremendously stupid thing. But, Iraq worked, Afghanistan worked, so guess the moron(s) in charge are figuring WTF, let's give it a go.

Just a prediction: If things don't get better in the US by say, oh, 2014, there's gonna be blood in the streets, middle class, working class blood. It will be on the hands of the corporate/politico elite and aided by the military.

When people have nothing, they've nothing to lose.

Up here in Canuckistan, the occupy movement has been laughed at by all the "serious" media.

At their peril. Our homeless and hungry population is growing every day. Jobs jobs jobs. Right.

Hope I'm wrong.

Anyone else figured out that OWS cannot be the 99 as they claim.....since they are not even 1% of the population????

And they'd do themselves and most other people a lot more good if they found a job! Generally, people who are busy don't whine too much!

ACORN Officials Scramble, Firing Workers and Shredding Documents, After Exposed as Players Behind Occupy Wall Street Protests

Officials with the revamped ACORN office in New York -- operating as New York Communities for Change -- have fired staff, shredded reams of documents and told workers to blame disgruntled ex-employees for leaking information in an effort to explain away a FoxNews.com report last week on the group’s involvement in Occupy Wall Street protests, according to sources.
NYCC also is installing surveillance cameras and recording devices at its Brooklyn offices, removing or packing away supplies bearing the name ACORN and handing out photos of Fox News staff with a stern warning not to talk to the media, the sources said.
“They’re doing serious damage control right now,” said an NYCC source.

.

I am middle class and I do not plan on over throwing the government or even fighting in the street with the government. I am sooooo far from the 1% and unless I win the lottery I will most likely remain so. I don't even play the lottery so I am certain I will remain with the 99%.

Ottawa isn't the hub of the 'occupy' movement. Even if they left would they not return in the spring?,

Even if they do, I think we should just let them protest.
Police intervention will only fuel the cause.

This kind of open Occupation and protest is good for our democracy,
let it just play itself out.

Unless someone can give me some damn good reasons otherwise,
That's how I feel about it.

How do you feel about Canada giving the World Banks about $34B in interest payments every year (and growing)? That is part odf the occupy movement. In real dollars that would have bought the fleet of F-35 that is in the works (planes that don't work as well as the tried and true F-18's)
Without using it for war machines (that aren't really needed as we are not being threatened with invasion) how would that money help alleviate the other issue that are part of the movement?
