I don't disagree with you, however, she (the lawyer) will have to consider her reputation from 2 angles here. The first will be her reputation within the legal community and the second will be her reputation as it relates to potential clients, of which she will have to consider the demographic that she wants to draw from (ie the Occupier demographic or the 1% corporate clients).

If she can pull it off, it may be a win-win, but if it flops, it may be a lose-lose.

In my opinion, that's one helluva a chance she's taking with her career and professional reputation.

Sometimes people do things because they have a conscience and money is not the only motivating factor in life. Perhaps she is doing the service for free and doesn't give a crap about the way the capitalist system works. Perhaps she believes, like most of the protestors, that the cause is worth their time and effort to take down this corrupt and morally bankrupted institution that you so fondly defend.

Let's raise the mentality of this protesting a bit and do it in such a way that it will actually do some good for the average working person. I would be willing to be part of a movement that writes or emails their M.P. and M.L.A. to demand that a law be enacted that forbids lending of money at a higher rate than 10% per annum. That would include all interest rates, carrying charges, service charges etc. etc. I figure to get it done about 10% of the population is going to have to get after it. Makes a lot more sense than being loud and obnoxious and getting in people's faces. We want to get in politicians' faces!

Protesters Disrupt Newt Gingrich Harvard Speech With ‘Human Microphone’

Several protesters at Harvard University were escorted out after Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich got “mic checked” during an appearance Friday.
Protesters began screaming as soon as Gingrich took to the microphone, mockingly thanking him for standing up for corporations. Security officials quickly removed the demonstrators from the hall, Boston ABC affiliate WCVB-TV reported. There were no arrests.

Aren't lawyers part of the 1%?

I don't know. Are they? Are they all, if some happen to be?

I know I guess I fall into the 99%, but I think that 99% needs to be
broken down further, as I'm working & obey'n the laws & paying my
tax's and not camping in the park and ask'n for hand-outs like these
folks that are supposedly representing the 99% are. They sure as
Hell are NOT representing me I hope. If they are....thanks but no.

It just strikes me if you are looking at all that is wrong with society today, lawyers are right up there. Few are poor.

I also think the 99% - 1% is a bit ridiculous. Where is the line? Most actors are part of the 1% yet they are welcomed. Getting paid $30 million for a movie is somehow ok but getting $3 million as a bonus is wrong? Give me a break.

And I hear you. I am in the same boat as you. And they don't represent me either.

I happen to have a couple of buddies who are lawyers....& one of them is
also family. He plays up the roll of golfer who rarely works for those who
expect to hear that story...but that's not the way it really is, at least for
this man.

When he's working, it could be 18hrs/day with time out to sleep or to hit
the gym. This guy even takes his work on holidays with him, and puts in
a couple hours of work every day of work while in tropical settings.

Even in Cuba, with no internet access, he was still reading and completing
files electronicly on his electric computer gizmos....a couple of hours each
day. This guy is doing well (though not one of the 1%), and has earned every
penny that he's made. On a lighter note, insert your own Lawyer joke here:

I doubt if any of us knows anyone in the 1% an a personal basis.

You have to put billion before the aire when referring to them.

Multi even.8O

If this is accurate, I know a few

Wealth and income in the top 1%

"Statistics Canada generally does not release statistics on Canada’s top 1%. StatsCan’s Social Policy Simulation Database and Model allows you to make a good estimate, as it draws on tax data, so I just crunched these out. For 2010, the top 1% (works out to a household income over $366,717) took 10.5% of total income (market income plus investment income plus government transfers). The next 4% took 12.0%. Overall, the top 10% of households (income over $148,241) got just under one-third of the income (32.9%)."

One more angle has just occurred to me about this counter productive charade, the huge costs incurred in extra policing, fire chief inspections, clean up crews etc. that will be dumped on their fellow citizens who pay property taxes each year, but they don't give a damn, tents aren't assessed.

They could learn from the Tea Party (if they had the humility to ask), perhaps put their collective heads together and form a proper alliance but pride is a very tough nut to crack.

Right wing 2d Amendment advocates support Occupy Phoenix:

Occupy Phoenix Veteran Protesters with AR-15's protecting the other protesters - YouTube

a commentator writes:

'' veterans exercising their second amendment rights protecting others first amendment rights what a beautiful thing''

The Constitution applies to all Americans. Therefore, OWS and all of its related movements have the right to exercise 1st and 2d Amendment solutions just like all else. That's what the armed veteran said and what the film maker (a right winger) said as well. Let's have all forum conservatives (that is, if they are TRUE conservatives) stand up and affirm it.
