What a colossal waste this entire 'movement' is! I wholeheartedly support anyones right to protest, in fact I think there should be more of it.

I agree with everything you say. It is the wrong demographics who are taking on the fat cats. The fat cats aren't directly affecting the homeless, the jobless, the inarticulate. The fat cats are screwing the ones who buy the expensive real estate and high end vehicles and are carrying debt at 28% interest rates and the ones a little lower on the scale who patronize payday loan sharks. If the middle class would differentiate "wants" from "needs" and stick to "needs" for several months, then you would see a dent in the rip offs.

Yep. Start by looking at what The Tea Party stands for. It might (not) surprise these people.

The ones that have half a brain already know but can't bring themselves to join in a common goal. Can't (won't) get beyond their imagined 'partisanship'.

They had to be fed from the ad-men trolls in Vancouver. Told what to do. Maybe try thinking for themselves.

That's personal responsibility. Lack of personal responsibility will over time bleed out and affect the whole of society. In fact, that's a large part of what's happened with this recession. Everyone wanted more, more, more and extended themselves to hell and back in order to achieve it. Yes the wheelers and dealers on Wall Street (and all the other financial districts world over) play fast and loose and bear a good portion of the responsibility. But ultimately, in the end, in a consumer driven society, the consumer holds all the cards. Why don't people get that? We all seem to want to do well on our own, without interference from anyone else, until the **** hits the fan and then we gather for support. Real power comes from doing things the other way around.

Would Jesus occupy Wall Street?

Nope. Jesus would hang with the real sufferers. He's cool that way.

Matthew 5-7
5:1 When he saw the crowds, he went up the mountain. After he sat down his disciples came to him. 2 Then he began to teach them by saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. 7 “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God. 10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. 11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil things about you falsely on account of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad because your reward is great in heaven, for they persecuted the prophets before you in the same way. 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled on by people. 14 You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 People do not light a lamp and put it under a basket but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good deeds and give honor to your Father in heaven. 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have not come to abolish these things but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass away not the smallest letter or stroke of a letter will pass from the law until everything takes place. 19 So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you, unless your righteousness goes beyond that of the experts in the law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are the insane who poop on the streets.

If by blessed you mean gross and disgusting, then sure.

Fairly certain neither Matthew, Mark, Luke or John foresaw a group of self-imposed disenfranchised youth along with a few social 'elites' camping out downtown and updating their facebook and tweeting the experience as part of the meek. But hey, I could be wrong.

Occupy Toronto protesters plan "Evict Rob Ford" march this afternoon

TORONTO, Ont. - While they anxiously await Monday's court decision on whether they can remain camped out in St. James Park, Occupy Toronto protesters don't plan to sit around.

The movement plans to hold an "Evict Rob Ford" march Saturday afternoon, in what they hope will be their biggest march yet.

With a name like that, it's clear the march intends to take direct aim at the mayor.

Protesters say they intend to march from their occupy base at St. James park to City Hall, where they'll let the mayor know they have no intention of leaving the park or stopping the movement.

All the arguments were made on Friday, as lawyers for the city squared-off against legal representation for the occupy movement.

Occupy lawyer Susan Ursel argued the Canadian Charter of Rights & Freedoms protects a persons conscience, and the tents in St. James Park are a physical manifestation of those rights.

Meanwhile, Darryl Smith, a lawyer for the city, argued the protesters are infringing on others' rights to enjoy the park.

"We've received an awful lot of complaints from residents in the area, and generally around the City of Toronto, complaining that effectively the park has been taken away from them," Smith said.

The decision from the judge is expected to be handed down at 9 a.m. Monday morning.

Oh, that's stinky. By the time that's sorted out through the courts, and tossed,
the leaves will be falling off the trees again as Mother Nature gets ready for
next winter.

I don't see Rob as an Old Spice man. He might be a tad odoriferous too. ;-)

But for the rest of the rabble, GTFO!

This lawyer could also conceivably argue that the turds left behind by the occupiers was an even more direct expression of their conscious and their intellect.

Why she's bothering with the tents is a mystery to me.

Publicity? Get's her name out there?

Well, I'd suggest that it would be a pretty slippery slope in that regard... My question would be that she may threaten her career if she wasn't able to hit it out of the park in terms of completing a successful defense. In the event that she failed, she may get more of a reputation for being a bit of a kook.

Just my opinion.

Or a reputation of thinking outside of the box with respect to creative defence
tactics. It's just a stall and if it takes a few months to toss it away, in this
situation, that's just as good as a win, isn't it? It creates the same
outcome of leaving these campers living in the parks, while the
rest of the taxpayers avoid the same parks. Isn't that the goal?
