The way to crush the middle class is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation. – Vladimir Lenin

What is Elizabeth Warren’s new role?

Obama and Liberal Democrats have no concept what the Constitution, they just circumvent rules to suit their needs. Time to bring back a true Constitutionalist goverment.

So...if Obama gives taxes cuts to the middle class, and allows the tax cuts to the richest 2% to expire, isn't that really the opposite of "The way to crush the middle class is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation. – Vladimir Lenin"

As for inflation...the interest rates have been on the zero bound for months.

And all those that are locked into long term bonds - wait for the interest rates to start rising -

Probably 125, 150 for sure.

One little incidental question. I've noticed for awhile now we use "K" to denote 1000. When I was in school and for quite awhile after we used "M" to denote a 1000. When did this change and why? Was it just something to add to the bureaucracy?

M is 1000 in roman numerical. K is the SI system (or here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_System_of_Units). My grandfather called my brother and I communists for preferring the metric system...

Your grandfather sounds like a very sensible man.

He wasn't. He had a pathological hatred for Ukrainians as long as I can remember. His final years were marked by dementia...

Sensible is units that go by magnitude of ten. But this doesn't really have anything to do with Obama's presidency...

That is true, but everything about Obama's presidency has been said so it's reached the point of either expanding the thread or closing it.:lol::lol:

Guess when you cannot afford to buy something, or live in a descent neighborhood.
It is just an arbitrary figure anyway.

I would stay with the $60,000+ figure I stated earlier for a family of 4.

That should work in a small town, provided the cars are at least 5 years old and you just stick to buying essentials and maybe a couple of beer on a Saturday night.:lol:

Clinton had a very balanced and genuine analysis of the current admin and state of affairs.

This is a must see..

Bill Clinton on Comedy Central: No joke. Just common sense | Nation | NewJerseyNewsroom.com -- Your State. Your News.

Noting that he was never into sound bites, Clinton's advice to the Democrats — Tell Americans they have the right to be angry, tell them to give you two more years to pull the country out of the hole, and then, if the party doesn't don't succeed, you can throw them out. But, he explained to the viewers, it took a long time to dig that hole and to have expected someone to solve all the problems in just two years was not realistic.
He also told viewers that there are now 5 million jobs available in America, but the American people don't have the skills to fill those jobs and offered reasonable-sounding solutions to the overwhelming problem of unemployment and the other massive problems America faces. He made it seem almost easy.
He said Americans spend more than any other western country on health care (17% to the others' 10%) and get the least for the money, with infant death rates climbing, and services falling. He pointed out that health care insurance companies' premiums skyrocketed while they were throwing people off their rolls and into Medicaid and other federal- and state-funded programs, while complaining about "big government."

Other points of contention:
- higher income workers wouldn't suffer with higher taxes
- economic deficit resulting from economic collapse was already $3 Trillion by time Obama was put into office
- one-third of stimulus was absorbed by tax cuts to middle income and only represents 2% of that economic 'hole'
- at some point we can reduce government involvement and have a private sector that works again

- banks have 1.8 Trillion in cash that is not committed and needs to be 'loosened up'
- that money should be going to retrofitting buildings to have more utility savings
- Every $1 Billion spent in this regard, creates 7000 jobs

Those were deep water wells:
Obama Suspends Oil Permits, Deepwater Exploration

Keep in mind, before the Deepwater Horizon blew up, this was a well that was in no danger either. The same lax oversight of Deepwater Horizon existed for the other 33 drilling rigs...he had to do something though. The public outcry was huge. There's not much he actually could have done except shut down drilling. And finally this weekend it's declared permanently sealed...
