I paid my last NS power bill in September, $211 for 42 days. SEPTEMBER!!! Plus 12 days!!! I regularly paid a minimum of $360 (two month billing period) in the summer and $980, $1250, $1120 for the six months from November through April. Plus I also paid $1200/year for wood. Yay green energy, my heat and power bills since I moved back to AB aren't even 1/4 of that. Plus I save around $8K in income tax, never mind HST. Yay green energy, farewell to Nova Scotia, It's a nice place to live, if you don't like sun and you love payin', and payin' and more payin'. Oh yeah, you have to like fog and snow and wind, and wind fog, and the dreaded nor'easter.
The URB has approved every rate increase, (maybe not the amount, but a rate increase nevertheless) NSP has applied for every year. Emera, the parent company is guaranteed a 9% ROI since "privatization", and NSP CEO Chris Huskilson, (a former student of a friend of mine) keeps getting hefty raises in remuneration every year. Go figure. Gotta love green energy. Someone is seeing the green, but bluenosers are only seeing red.
