Neil Young is there to stop something. The problem is we need the resource.
If he were there demanding the best possible ways to extract the oil and to
be aware of environmental damage I could see a place for that. We need to
ensure all is being done that can be done but to completely stop it when we
need the oil is nonsense

You'd think he would have enough brains to know he should stick to singing songs!

He's been living in California since about the Nixon administration. What is the sudden big deal for him?

Funny, I come on here and everybody is crapping on Neil, I go out to town and everybody is praising him. I think the main difference is that you clowns don't have to live with the aftermath of this environmental disaster because it isn't in your back yard.

It's in your back yard is it? If that's the proximity for you then for me it,s right in my house in my fridge and pantry that are overflowing.

Just yesterday I asked the old lady "why do we have 17 cans of tuna and salmon? Her reply:"because we do".

I can live with that. It sure beats not having 17 cans of tuna and salmon like when we lived in BC and were struggling because she couldn't find work and I had to work out of Province and country.

We already are through Keystone soon Keystone XL, any then East West not to mention the BC NG that passes through or is bought to cook off potash or make ammonium nitrate fertilizer.

Your disability could be $500 more a month like AB and SK.

Not all of us oldsters have aged gracefully. Neil Young has bad genes.

Neil 'Old' really looks like a guy that you'd see hanging out near elementary schools telling kids that he has some candy and puppies in the back of his van

Gotta pay to play Cliffy... You want gasoline, nat gas, propane, etc in your community, then you gotta do your part

[...] But not all the money in the world can hide the fact that Young has never protested against the world’s largest oil companies — like Saudi Aramco, or Venezuela’s PDVSA. Young doesn’t protest against dictatorship oil, conflict oil, terrorist oil or union-busting oil. [...]

For Loc, that response is pretty lol-worthy considering Harper is reconsidering Canada's biggest energy endeavour due to environmental concerns.

For cap'n, we already went over the significant bits. I'm sure there is plenty of rhetoric, but Shell already admitted to the damage that would be caused by this and that is the crux of Young's message.

Reconsidering? He can't.

How connected is Neil to the guy that needs work.

Neither Harper nor Young have ever had a real job for long. I don't think Harper will find an advantage there.

Serisouly? You're going there? I expected better.

So lets get this straight. People who hunt and fish at Superstore are going to have a hard time because useless muskeg will be drained leaving no place for natives to get their quads stuck in?

The oil sands are the world's largets contaminateed site. The oil companies operating there are doing a public service. We should be paying them!

You have some research to do because it's far from being the worlds largest especially after mandatory reclamation.

A low blow, I admit... But really, that picture of him is uber-creepy

Some people have observed that the Athabasca (and Orinco as well as some sites in Russia) are Mother Nature's largest oil spills

Your city cut out of old growth forest is far more contaminated by it's human presence.

Should we have a peakaboo at BC worldbeaters when it comes to enviro destruction?
