Its still primarily Quebec. The minute Tommy actually shows a spine to the Bloc base in Quebec, it will fade. Of course, he may never do that.

But wait until election day and we will see what the only truly accurate poll is. Early term polls on a majority govt routinely have the majority party way down. Then a year before election, they will put a sweet budget in, a couple feel good bills and an election campain and another win. I think this plan is what was really what was inside those red books that Creitien waved around.

And the maritimes.
And BC.

And now their creeping up to PC support in Ontario, Sask and Manitoba.

By comparison, the only spot where Harper has solid support is in Alberta - which is probably why he thinks Calgary is the best city in the world and Redford is being primed as his replacement.

I meant to include BC but my fingers went off and did their own thing. I missed the maratimes all together.

I will be extremely surprised if Ontario actually votes NDP ever. Bob Rae still resonates strongly in these parts. Even the Liberals know this.

Aphids are a parasitic critter that sucks the life out of formerly apparently healthy plants that were watered too much and did not put down sufficient roots. One can use soap and water but i prefer Raid.

Do the Liberals know that there's more support for the NDP than there is for their platform in Ontario right now?

The one sticking point is the Liberal federal leadership race. If they don't pick an instant winner, you will see a shift in support to the NDP from most of their camp.

But the Liberals know that Bob Rae would not get them any hope of Ontario. If they actually find a leader who is somewhat competent and can present him/herself as an actual leader, I suspect a good chunk of the NDP support will shift back.

I also don't think the NDP is riding high on their own policies or the personal popularity of the Bearded One rather being the only left leaning or non CPC party which is not adrift without a rudder. I also still think a lot of Canadians still see and think of Jack Layton when they think of the NDP and when that fades and they see who is wearing those cowboy boots now their enthusiasm and 'goodwill' will also fade.

I also think that the reason the CPC and NDP both did well last election is they both were able to play the centre (one from the right, the other from the left). The NDP was able to do that due to Layton who presented himself as a centre canidate. It remains to be seen if Mulcair is capable of continuing this or whether he will shift back to the left and leave the middle open for a Liberal recovery.

When the memory of Jack Layton fades, Or when the scandals and attrocities commited by Jack Laton arrise (prostitutio via underaged girls in a rub-n-tug and freeloading in community housing, etc.etc) again from the dead... The NDP will find thier rightful place in history.. In 3rd place again. The sheer fear throught Canada of the NDP coming close to power will have the dis-enfranchised Liberals now in the NDP jumping rght back to the Liberal ship. Canadians have made it clear that a communist state is not what they want in Canada.

Great, another person who doesnt know what communism means.

The polls dont seem to be taking the 30 new ridings which will be around in 2015. I imagine that'd change the outcome.

Great, Another person who does not understand the NDP socialist platforms....

Remember what the last polls showed.... Smotherman would be Toronto's finest mayor, Harper would not win the last election... Iggy would. You best take your hopes off of these Polls.. Your gonna be doing alot of crying in your corn-flakes in 2015...

Geez guys...........we have a ways to go before an election is called. Even the lagging Libs could mount a come-back before we start counting votes.

I think that is why the Liberals are holding off on electing a leader until ext spring. Just soon enough for him/her to be a fresh smile but not long enough to collect any inconvenient baggage or suffer too severe a case of foot in mouth.

I'd have to agree with this point. It appears that the Liberals are also suffering a bit of an identity crisis when it comes to their platform.

If they can make some headway after electing their new leader, that may split the vote on the left to the benefit of the Conservatives. However, if they don't make any discernible impression, we will see the rest of their voter support start to dwindle, and I suspect most of them would go left.
