It's not meager and we do give away 30%.

That is our choice, not the governments.

Sir Joseph, I would call you a lying phoney, but it's against the forum rules to call names, so I won't. Apparently it's not against to rules to bible thump till the cows come home.

Ironically, you most likely don't believe the crap you spew or you would be giving out with the book and #, which you haven't. i.e. John 3:16, etc. A really good thumper always makes with the verse and #. Anyone who knows his mythology..........so - you don't.

I'm sure there are parts of the economy that can be freed up, just as there are parts that require more regulation. I can't speak to the benefit/detriment of removing a minimum wage, but I do know that a completely free market is a bad idea.

The mantra that the lower the taxes the better is of course a silly simplification. At the same time however, many on the left too engage in the same kind of silliness with the idea that any kind of privatization whatsoever is always, always bad no matter what regardless of evidence.

Surprisingly enough, when the Christian Democrats campaigned for the voucher school programme, they often referred to UDHR 26(3) states:

"Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children."

The Social Democrats, rather than opposing it outright, simply questioned the Christian Democrats as to how they'd implement it, and as it turned out, they had a well thought out plan and won.

So overall it would seem that in Sweden, both the right and the left can actually argue their point using logic rather than emply rhetoric. What we have in Canada is the right saying taxes are theft and the left saying school vouchers are Republican.

For Con,
Please ask someone to help you with the big words.

“At this festive season of the year, Mr Scrooge,” said the gentleman, taking up a pen, “it is more than usually desirable that we should make some slight provision for the Poor and destitute, who suffer greatly at the present time. Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir.”
“Are there no prisons?” asked Scrooge.
“Plenty of prisons,” said the gentleman, laying down the pen again.
“And the Union workhouses?” demanded Scrooge. “Are they still in operation?”
“They are. Still,” returned the gentleman, “ I wish I could say they were not.”
“The Treadmill and the Poor Law are in full vigour, then?” said Scrooge.
“Both very busy, sir.”
“Oh! I was afraid, from what you said at first, that something had occurred to stop them in their useful course,” said Scrooge. “I’m very glad to hear it.”
“Under the impression that they scarcely furnish Christian cheer of mind or body to the multitude,” returned the gentleman, “a few of us are endeavouring to raise a fund to buy the Poor some meat and drink, and means of warmth. We choose this time, because it is a time, of all others, when Want is keenly felt, and Abundance rejoices. What shall I put you down for?”
“Nothing!” Scrooge replied.
“You wish to be anonymous?”
“I wish to be left alone,” said Scrooge. “Since you ask me what I wish, gentlemen, that is my answer. I don’t make merry myself at Christmas and I can’t afford to make idle people merry. I help to support the establishments I have mentioned: they cost enough: and those who are badly off must go there.”
“Many can’t go there; and many would rather die.”
“If they would rather die,” said Scrooge, “they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population. Besides — excuse me — I don’t know that.”

YJ was an admitted Catholic. This one is not. Mind you I am still puzzled over his choice of avatar.

As have I, but have not settled on who he was in his former incarnation.
Subterfuge. It seems he called it a day after being outted as an unwanted returnee.
