Is that the best you can do C.M.? Of all the posters on here Cliffy is possibly the least intrusive and least harmful to the planet. When you ask a person a question you get what you get. "Let me ask you, for someone that deliberately decided to refuse to contribute to society, what made you believe that the benefits should be delivered to you without question... Entitlement perhaps?" REMEMBER?

Wow, that is a very naive statement JLM, you should go back to bed and get some rest

Then you're a spoiled prat. It's entirely plausible that someone would manage their expenses and avoid wasteful purchases like iPhones, while saving to get themselves off the street.

If you can't afford rent, you can't afford an iPhone.

On numbers alone, you are wrong.

No no no. It is a luxury. If you can afford luxuries you have no excuses.

It depends on value. A computer, for instance, in this day and age is a very important tool. A connection to the internet, some would argue is a vital component as well.

If the only computing device someone owns is an iPhone, for example, that is not a luxury. In fact, that is actually a smart purchase because it will combine the phone and their computing requirements.

Look - the point is that we don't want to force the middle class into poverty. If they get to the point where they can't afford their own computer (or an iphone), then they wouldn't have been able to afford rent in the first place. In which case, the additional revenue from a relatively small purchase does not help at all in paying off the debt.

No one seriously believes that having an iphone is living in luxury, and if you do, you're out of touch.

Really? You're still putting the iPhone before rent as a neccesity when it isn't? What's wrong with you man, you've never struggled enough to have to prioritize?

Hey Petros, I see that Flossy is out on a tear handing out reddies. What is especially interesting is that he's disagreed with an individual's ability to access the net via public facilities.

Says a lot about entitlement in my eyes

The point is that you can afford an iphone, but not rent.

No more, no less.

Don't get distracted by the flashiness of the product.

I know you guys aren't that dumb.

How can you afford an iPhone but not rent?

How can't you?

Let's also remember that if our standard is for the middle class to be renting, or worse, living with their parents - we won't have much of an economy left.
