The OWS people are much better educated, and have higher levels of employment than the Tea Party people.
Why does protesting bother you so much? Does it remind you of your own proclivity towards inactivity? Do you feel envious towards them? Do you feel anger towards those who would make for positive change, while you would prefer to stew in your own sense of helplessness? Given the amazing productivity of your 24/7 internet wars, perhaps you are the one unemployed?
Look I know you havent' been outside your basement for awhile, and I have been encouraging you to get a walk, some exercise, enjoy some fresh air, sadly I don't think you've been able to let go that bag of Doritos and remove yourself from the couch, consequently in a rare fit of human compassion for a lazy mofo, I've decided to bring the outdoors to you:

The Harperites just don't happen to agree with teh >95% of scientists who do argue that climate change is happening. Yet somehow you argue that this is not so much disagreeing with science, but disagreeing with "you[r] opinion." Fascinating. The idiocy cloaked as sophistry would be humourous if it wasn't such a sad comment on your capability to reason.
In a "first to the post" system we have a dearth of votes that do not count, as such we should revisit teh mantra "we got this here democracy don't you know." When votes don't count, do we have a democracy? So no, we don't get the gov't we deserve. You penchant for using the cliches of other people does not serve you well.
Now if you said that climate change was a way for University elites to gain more funding, for gov'ts to argue for higher taxes - for us little guys to get ****ed over, then I would agree with you. I have no doubt climate change is happening (pumping trillions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere will have an effect) but following David Suzuki's mantra of "we are need more studies" just pads the coffers of our university and bureaucratic elites.
But hey, you're right Colpy about the need to keep voting in the Fed Conservatives and maybe once in a while the Liberals, since that has worked so well, my gosh I can count atleast 50 straight years of successful, productive Federal governance. Well, atleast for those employed in the public sector. Wages haven't increased fo the middle class private sector worker in 30 years. But yeah, by all means don't try something new.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people can keep voting against their interests, can keep repeating the same mistakes, can keep to their dogma. For some, intransigence and Idiocy is never in short supply.
I'll vote NDP, I hope they become increasingly populist and move away from being a party supporting the Unionistas. This Mulcair guy looks principled, tough and wont' back down from a fight ala Stéphane Dion. He's not a flip-flopper like Ignatief, and he seems principled unlike Harper. We'll see. The election is three years away, that's three years that corporate media will work to shred Mulcair. Get used to personal attacks like yesterday's article about Mulcair remortgaging his home. Corporate media hates the left, and they'll take necessary measures to degrade popupulist suport - thereby perpetuating Canadians voting against their own interests.
Be strong, be brave, try something new for a change. Maybe then we won't have to shell out $35 Bn for new planes to "fight teh terrorists waiting to attack us." Such BS. We really need a gov't that isn't beholden to oligarchs, teh rich and various vested interests.
Aside: Was anyone surprised that teh Liberal Party finds it's strongest base amongst those earning >$100K? I wasn't.
I most certainly understand how the fiat system works - and I will remind you that without that system, most nations would have a fraction of the roads, infrastructure, healthcare capacity and social services that are taken for granted.
As for 'who' controls it, you are simply playing the role of victim here. The fact is, the control lies fully in the group that supports it - that being you and me.
As for Mulcair and your desire to destroy the system, careful what you wish for as the people that will pay the dearest are those that rely on it the most. So all this nonsense about screwing a miniscule percentage of the population of wealthy people will be overshadowed by the real hardships that will be experienced by entire societies. So, if your sense of vengeance and jealously is that strong that you feel that society's most vulnerable ought to suffer to satisfy your personal agenda, then fill yer boots. All you'll need to do is convince the rest of the population that your personal vendetta was worth their suffering.
Here's a thought - why don't you point-out the merits and detail the overall, long-term benefits?

Perhaps people are making too much of the surge in N.D.P. popularity, which comes largely due to the "dead duck" status of the Liberals and the sinking ship of the Bloc. It's sort of like "survival of the fittest" where the competition ain't too fit. :lol:
NO, where have you been? You've obviously forgotten the sponsorship scandal was the start of the Liberal "dip"- 10 years before the N.D.P. surge.
I'll agree that the Liberals gave the NDP the initial push at election time, but since then, NDP popularity has gone up because of well-executed opposition and Mulcair's leadership. And contrary to what you might think, Rae and the Libs have done a great job as well, but their efforts are being overshadowed.

The OWS protesters my be better educated than the Tea partiers but who has the most money? Bin to school don't make you smart or rich. True many of the lazy protesters will inherit millions from their parents that have a work ethic.
So if you are amazed at people voting against their best interests why do you vote for the Non Democratic Parasites? You like being known as a freeloader?

Why would I have to? Tonington made a couple excellent posts on how well the German model is doing. Complete with a link and other supporting evidence.
When I sought to refute his claims and his links claims, my research just found more info that supported his position, and the fact that the German model appears to be quite successful.

Those of us that live in BC and are in tune with politics know lots about John Cummins. He is a far right religious zealot that thinks the world is 6000 years old. Also there is no hidden agenda. Cummins and his clowns would settle for a white christian theocracy. Ideally they would go somewhat right of that.
His idea of reform is not fixing problems but taking us back a hundred years or so. Polar opposite of Tricky DIx but just as evil.
