There will always be inequality - That is a fact. Now it comes down to how harmful is that inequality.

That's a cop out. While I have no doubt that inequality exists and there may always be inequality, that does not mean we have to legislate it.
No cop out - NFLD & Labrador got rid of separate schools - Eventually they will see it in other Provinces as an inequality. Immigration will take care of that problem.
But to get back to the main point brought up by Macho - We cannot comment until our own house is in order - I strongly disagree with that principle. Do you agree or not?

I don't think so. If I'm not mistaken, he was an atheist. His father may have been Muslim.

Ya hit the nail square on the head JLM... The fact is, we are not all equal in one form or another and there is no amount of legislation or pie-in-the-sky, warm, cuddly feelings that will ever change that.
The only 'thing' that society can possibly do in the name of equality is to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to live their life as they, themselves, see fit.

I agree 100% but that is not what is currently happening in Canada. It is what I would like to have happen. Apparently, it is not what CB wants though as he seems to think (for some strange reason) that it is racist. Could it be that CB secretly accepts that he gets more than his fair share and he dislikes people like me upsetting his apple cart.
The reality though, is that race has little to do with it. I could interchange the words english, aboriginal, muslim, red head or left handed person and my position wouldn't change in the slightest. CB can't say the same thing.

I may possibly have a little insight into this, Bear. From his many posts I've come to the conclusion (may be wrong) that Cannuck lives and breathes Unions) and lately the continued strength of Unions has come into question, so maybe the continuation of his whole being has come into question for him. I would be scared too if I was tethered to something as tenuous. :smile:
Then define equality? Will this be easy - No - Have fun.
Inequality runs a wide gamut - From a person’s opinion based upon the others height, weight, looks, grammar. And a host of other life encounters I can come up with. That is why I suggested a specific Thread. It is a complex issue.
