New social studies curriculum stresses religion over evolution

AUSTIN, Texas - A far-right faction of the Texas State Board of Education succeeded Friday in injecting conservative ideals into social studies, history and economics lessons that will be taught to millions of students for the next decade.
Teachers in Texas will be required to cover the Judeo-Christian influences of the nation's Founding Fathers, but not highlight the philosophical rationale for the separation of church and state. Curriculum standards also will describe the U.S. government as a "constitutional republic," rather than "democratic," and students will be required to study the decline in value of the U.S. dollar, including the abandonment of the gold standard.

lolI can see that a lot of people here have only read one source for that piece of news.....If people would read more than one and do it without preconceived notions or bias...one would realize that some people voted the way they did because they believe rightly or wrongly that the US has taken a turn in schools, ..........Bah!
Whether I agree or not on your views doesn't really matter although I mostly agree with you on most things.....but it is not my goal in life to change people to my way of thinking...but I like to point out the options and let people do their own research.lol
Then post another source for the news.
...one would realize that some people voted the way they did because they believe rightly or wrongly that the US has taken a turn in schools, that teaches students that the constitution is irrelevant and should be changed and several other basic concepts of government are slowly being eroded by some schools
...
Well, they are doing their part to ensure that the Constitution is irrelevant...as I said, they struck down teaching about the religious freedoms and why Government should not pass laws based on one religion...
That is ignoring a great deal about how the United States came to be...colonists fled religious persecution, then persecuted themselves, and the Founding Fathers realized that this was wrong.
Moderates are speaking out as well, not sure why you feel the need to single out progressives...
Texas Board of Education: Making Their Own History | The Moderate Voice
It's the constant back and forth between extremes that sets up this nonsense. Have you read any of the Texas dailies? There is plenty of opposition to what the SBoE has done, not based on ideology, but on what is best for the students, a fact which seems lost now.
No, I'm not kidding. I saw the MSNBC tag there as well. There is no content attached though, no hyperlink, nothing. They have no books or sites of interest either, though there are clearly tags there for them. I'm not sure why it's there, maybe they had plans to sponsor many different media?
Did you even check out their content? The authors and their bios? It seems pretty hollow of you to rail on about preconceived notions and biases, and then casually dismiss something because of a dead tag without even looking around first...
Also, clearly, putting tags on the side of a blog does not mean that the organization, in this case MSNBC, is sponsoring The Moderate Voice... that's ridiculous.

They are nuts.
lmao Proof?their strength is mostly concentrated in Alberta.
As if Minnesota has anything to brag about with former Gov. Jesse "The Body" Ventura and Senator Stuart Smalley.
In TexASS??
Not in your life! LOL!!
Don't forget senator Al Franken. Surely he burns you up more than anybody else? Ventura after all was not a Democrat. But here is a stand up comedian, the one Republicans consider to be a total buffoon. And he defeats a sitting Republican Senator.
Surely you are mad at him more than at anybody else?
