No, the problem is we HAVE been listening to the self described experts and they are mostly clueless.
Agreed.
The majority of teachers have never really had any other job except part time as students.
Proof please? Cause I call BS on that.
All they did was get a desk that faces the other way. No concept of reality.
And this is why Teachers are tired of teaching; it's not the kids, but fukwits like you who think they know what being a teacher is like and how 'not so bad' it is...
What is taught in school aside from basics must reflect the job market, not what interests some teacher.
And that's BS too. What is taught in schools now isn't what reflects the job market, but what is dictated by the Boards of Education as "should be taught" and the Minister of Education gives the okay. If what you just said was right, kids wouldn't be as effin' clueless coming out of school as they are.
There are no easy answers and it is not a one size fits all subject
Agreed.
but for too long we have let the left ruin our education system,
LOL - the left? No, the left AND the right; you CANNOT pin all this on the left unless you want to say that the left has controlled everything for decades, at all times...
ANd education is a provincial responsibility unfortunately so there is no real continuity.
Agreed.
Ideally a student from Newfoundland should be able to move to BC and be within a couple of days of the same place in the curriculum. Doesn't happen.
As a student in the 80's who went from NB to NFLD then back to NB, yes, this exactly. Which is why I have had issues with Education since I was a pre-teen even. And why teaching and education has always been an interest of mine.
And just recently my niece, who went to school in NB, move to NS, then back to NB, and even THAT was a clusterfuk of a mess to the differences in education requirements.
But this also proves my point this isn't JUST a left issue, but a left/right issue. It's a disdain people have for educators issue. It's a "teachers are babysitters" issue... it's a complicated fuking issue that yes, involves the 'rich' vs 'the poor'.
