My neighbour has really nice strawberries so I eat those before the crows do (the neighbour has yet to notice) but no rhubarb. Raspberries are looking great this year same goes for the wild cranberries up at the farm.

Hey maybe you can make rhubarb booze?

Rhubarb Wine? I'd try that.

Hey, look at this one closely, & you can see the curb:

Right now I'm listening to a Prairie Summer Storm, & wondering how long
it'll be until I loose power. TV (digital) is intermittent at best, but the Internet
access is holding up so far.

I was reading in the Leader Post that the crops will be down something like 50% this year due to all the rain. Ginny, my sister in Regina, keeps telling me about all the 'lakes' forming on the fields and of course the national news has been covering the highway wash-outs. After all the years of drought, to have more rain then they would ever need is a crushing blow to farmers across the province.

Hope your power managed to stay on, Ron.

I'm sorry all of you have so much trouble from the rain. I guess we must be more prepared for it here because it rains often like Ron's pictures show but it doesn't flood here. The older parts of town have large drainage ditches. In the newer parts the drainage is buried but it's still there and works well. It's just a given here that most driveways and sundecks etc. are built with a little more degree of "drain" because we do get rain that looks like that quite often. It can and does rain so hard it's just bouncing off the road but it never builds up to flood levels. It has not rained hard here for about a week but it's been chilly. Temps are ranging from a high of 16 to lows of 4. Hubby worked graveyard shift and I woke up one night really cold. When he came home he said it dropped down to 4 in the night and he had to turn the heat on in the bldg. he was in. It's an office. But - unless they change it again - next week when we have made plans to go to a wonderful beach campsite, right on the ocean, temps are supposed to be at least 23 or better.
7 - 7.5 is perfect for a swimming pool or hot tub PH

It's 30 there, 20 here, dropping down to 16 for a high tomorrow but - and it's probably a big but, it's supposed to get to 28 by the end of next week when we go camping.

Sounds pretty bleak in many areas right now. We always have expensive food and gas.
I hope you and your family are well and safe. It has not mentioned tornadoes in Regina yet but it does sound like many areas of your prov. are being hit hard.

Hey! I said send some of that lightshow and thunder, not rain. Now we have rain and no lightshow/thunder. :(

I'm praying hard for all my prairie kin and friends. I was watching Regina's news again today and couldn't believe, after all you have been through, that even more of Nature's wrath has been visited upon Saskatchewan. They were reporting tornados just south of Regina and the devastation from those that hit other areas is simply heartbreaking.

Tornado destroys several homes in southern Saskatchewan

Kristin Bibik with files from the Canadian Press Jul 03, 2010 15:11:47 PM

Nearly a dozen homes have been destroyed and several others damaged by a tornado that hit the Kawacatoose reserve near Raymore, Saskatchewan Friday night.

Meterologists are working to determine the strength of the twister; initial indications say this was an F2 or F3 tornado.

Kawacatoose Chief Darin Poorman has declared a state of emergency and will meet with provincial officials Saturday to determine what aid is available for tornado victims.

There are no reports of death or injuries.

Friday's tornado in Kawacatoose follows a massive storm on Thursday in Yorkton, which caused flash floods and saw 130 people forced from their homes.

We have the same problem here. Every time I kill a mosquito, twenty more show up for the funeral

No Man...this is like nothing I've ever seen. Mosquito's usually don't bother me. Maybe
it's a genetic quirk or something (same with my sister), but I'm getting bite this year
for some reason.
