Surely, some kind of ending is upon us. Last week climate protesters demanded the silencing of Charles Krauthammer for a Washington Post column that notices uncertainties in the global warming hypothesis. In coming weeks a libel trial gets under way brought by Penn State's Michael Mann, author of the famed hockey stick, against National Review, the Competitive Enterprise Institute, writer Rand Simberg and roving commentator Mark Steyn for making wisecracks about his climate work. The New York Times runs a cartoon of a climate "denier" being stabbed with an icicle.
These are indications of a political movement turned to defending its self-image as its cause goes down the drain. That's how thoroughly defunct, dead, expired is the idea that humanity might take charge of earth's atmosphere through some supreme triumph of the global regulatory state over democracy, sovereignty, nationalism and political self-interest, the very facts of political human nature.

Australia's 'Ministry of Silly Science' the Labor/Greens Climate Commission headed by Gaia-worshiper Tim Flannery has been sacked.
Flannery, although an Acknowledged Expert in Fossilized Kangaroo ****, has been discredited because of his failed global warming predictions. Alarmist Flannery and his whole panel of 'climate commissioners' has been relieved of their official duties by the new Coalition government under Tony Abbott. Abbott is quoted as saying; "It does sound like an unnecessary position, given that the gentleman in question gives us the benefit of his views without needing taxpayer funding".
Translation; Flannery spouts his BS loud and long, whether he is paid by the taxpayer or not.
Next on the chopping block is Labor's $9 billion per year Carbon Tax, the Climate Change Authority, the $10 billion Climate Change Fund, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and various other climate-change related bodies.
The $10 billion per year Renewable Energy Target is also being reviewed.
The new federal government is also looking at the school curriculum, which has been heavily criticized for its emphasis on 'sustainability' 'climate change' and other forms of indoctrination which were introduced by the former Labor government under Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard. School time has become focused on these issues heavily in recent years, causing a swift fall in educational standards in areas such as Mathematics, English and Science across the country.

Yeah pretty much. Mann has been investigated multiple times by US politicians too. If you claim someone is a fraud and is manipulating data, you better have damn good evidence of that if their reputation in their field is going to suffer from being labelled a fraud. Using one set of methods over those that another scientist would prefer is not evidence of fraud...that's just how science works.
Suppose I choose a method for evaluating vaccine efficacy based on clinical presentation of sores, instead of relative per cent survival (RPS), as the disease can cause mortality and ulcers of the skin/muscle. Both are different measures, and can give different answers depending on your disease model. If someone prefers to see the RPS, it doesn't mean my sore formation end point is wrong. It's just a different measure of efficacy.
That is directly analogous to Mann and McIntyres little spat. My disease model (there can be many for one disease) is the noise model (Mann and McIntyre used different models for analysis). The RPS vs. sore formation end points are comparable to eigenvector values using centered or non centered principle components that differentiated the Mann and McIntyre analyses.
Calling it fraud is complete ignorance of how the body of knowledge built by science evolves.
