If the meteroid's composition contained iron - a conductor- as the object travelled through Earth's magnetic field currents and electromagnetic radiation are induced.
As it travels through atmosphere, the air is ionized.
The first picture in post #20 was released way earlier than the incident that happened in Russia... It is a picture about mag storm data... When people copy and paste they should do a better job 8)

i like the picture of the lake ice.... Lady is right beside it... Must of been one hot piece of debris... I wonder would it have been molten? Even a bit?
