Trump said he would drain the swamp and that he hires only the best.

"drain the swam["??? Now there is a joke for all seasons. He has created his own version of a swamp.........and it is uglier than any thing he wanted to clean up.

"Hire the best "...

IF that is the best he can come up with.......then the pool hie picked from.......would be at some cesspool level. Making any swamp look legit. ethical, and professional.

Speaking of professional............. There has been NOTHING professional about this Trump regime.......

The ONLY professional in this whole mess, is MEulller...... He is like a slilent submarine doing it's job with professionalism and with NO LEAKS..

Manafort convicted on 8 counts; mistrial declared on 10 other charges

Manafort, a fixture in Republican politics for decades, was convicted of five counts of tax fraud, one count of failure to file a report of foreign bank and financial accounts and two counts of bank fraud. A mistrial was declared in three counts of failing to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts, and seven counts of bank fraud and bank fraud conspiracy.

I heard a commentator explain the problems if Trump was to pardon Manafort .....

It would mean that Manafort could be called by Mueller for questioning and Manafort could not refuse nor take the 5th, because he was pardoned. If Manafort refused, he would be charged with contempt. If he does answer Muller's questions and is found to be lying, then additional charges of perjury would be laid against him.

I am waiting for the disclosure documents from the district attorney which will be shared with Manafort's defense team prior to the next court appearance in DC. (Probably today or tomorrow.) These materials should be quite enlightening.

Cohen's wife was/is a partner in the Cohen Business. She was/is a co-conspirator and co-signed all the cheques and kept the books, and perhaps that is why Cohen is pleading and willing to testify so that his wife does not get charged and that she will be able to keep the taxi medallions because of having no criminal record.

It irritates me each time I hear the phrase "We are a country of laws".

A prosecutor is given a budget each year and he must keep his expenditures within the allotted dollars awarded the prosecution office. What breeches of law are prosecuted depends upon how much the budget is.
