Northern Ontario,
lmao....yea I caught a glimpse of the spectacle on tv of the TO police causing havoc on the dvp, parading downtown and detonating some tiny package. (perhaps left-over fire-works from the last long weekend?) Christ the only `explosion` I saw was the detonation itself!

..those dam tarrrrist!!
Oh yeah....And in my old days of prospecting we used to just burn leftover dynamite instead of bringing it back to civilisation.....

For all the bloody whining in threads about our Charter, this is particularly relevant, as our Charter will not allow the inclusion of Sharia Law in Canada. Even if Muslims made up 51% of our Parliament, they could not simply pass an act to make it so, and I'm sure our head of state would never allow such a thing either.
You forget the Notwithstanding clause...What head of state? In Kanata, it's a figurehead of state only...

A nice glimps into your mind set??? Or I hope a simple slip of the tongue...

The Police didn't cause the havoc...The asshole with the explosives did...The Police were doing their jobs...Risking their lives for you.
How dare you question the religion of peace?

He must have been following ''Christian'' Eric Rudolph's example.
Oh brother...:sign3:
39% is large.

39% is large.

Yes, but point being, it's a lot less than the over 50% it was half a century ago. Reliable stats are sketchy (not reliable  ), but there's not much controversy about the fact that Christians are fleeing persecution, not only in Lebanon, but the entire Arab world, in droves.

But that's another thread.

The notwithsatnding clause cannot be used to override certain rights. For example, democratic rights, mobility rights, and the guaranteed equality of men and women. So Sharia law which states that one man is equal to two women cxannot be overridden by section 33, because gender equality rights are entrenched.

The Queen of course, she could kill any proposed legislation she wished, and I would hope she saves such a decision for the hypothetical we're talking about here.

Ummm, did you miss the Center For the advancement of Women? It's only a matter of time before the laws are twisted to accommidate laws that will degridate the foundation of Canada's proud history my friend...

Again, people will thank their lucky stars for "activist judges". The judges apply the codes and precedent which binds them, in a not so liberal fashion.

The supreme court judges would strike down any new proposed legislation, or even lesser documents like regulations, just as they did when the government attempted to change the regulations concerning barley options by the CWB without the proper changes to the overriding Wheat Board Act. It's like a trump card.

Yes indeed,I always thank my lucky stars that the supremes have decided that anyone who sets foot on Canadian soil is protected by the charter,no matter what they have done in thier past. This mail bomber will be with us for a long and expensive time. Thank you supreme court for making Canada the #1 destination spot for terrorist who want to flee prosecution.

BTW,it is being reported now that the bomber's middle name is mohammed. Anyone still think that he is Christian? This little fact will never be mentioned by cbc or ctv because they do not to upset the liberal voters.Notice how his middle name has not been mentioned, even though it is standard practice to release the middle name to protect people with similar names. In this case it has been withheld to protect liberal votes.

The name Mohammed predates Islam in the Arab world. Find a better stereotype to spew your prejudices.

OH SPARE ME!

Of course the name predates Islam, anyone with an IQ larger than their shoe size could figure that out.........and the same IQ is required to realize that in modern times 9,999 out of 10,000 men with that name will be followers of Islam..........

It's also a popular name amongst converts to Islam.

The Star in Toronto has reported on some dealings he had with members of his community, also mostly carrying the name Mohammad. He was a bit of a loner, and his landlord reported he was distressed and rambling incoherently in a mixture of Arabic/English during an encounter three months ago.
