The same folks make them not happen, sweetie.

But their not, jbeee just said so.
Even if they had a corrupt dictator they would still want the resources developed and theres other safer countrys to do exploration and prospecting in.

I have a newsflash for ya bucky, theres not too many places on earth that dont have some exploitable resources under the ground so posting a map showing them and being surprised shows your ignorance in the field.

I guess I just don't see how watching a 1 hour benefit concert from the comfort of your home is contributing. You haven't spent anything, haven't done anything. For those who HAVE donated, are engaged, are plugged into what's going on, it's one thing... they've paid into that concert in a sense.... I just tend to be a bit cynical and assume a larger percentage didn't donate one red cent to any of the aid.

Well, maybe it's a glass half full, half empty kinda thing....

but I think enough tuned in and stepped up to make it a worthwhile endeavor:

The Canadian broadcast raised $9 million

... events like this speak to something deep within me - overwhelming loss... triggering an astounding display of human caring - which even the vilest faces of exploitation and apathy can't completely stifle. On most days I can turn my head in pretty much any direction and encounter the evidence of the worst within us.... Today though, I choose to see someting better.

In a perfect world, it wouldn't take an epic disaster to call forth the best within us.

The death toll would be astounding if everyone just sat back and did nothing,if anything it shows there is some hope for this world, sometimes it takes a disaster like this to open folks eyes and realize we can and should do more on a global basis and not dwell on the past, the past is just that,at least some are willing to step up to the plate and have a positive attitude that we can help.
Focusing on negatives and past wrongs is just so counterproductive.

What I don't understand is why some want to make an earthquake search and rescue effort into the same old political conspiracy claim. What's with all the fringe lunacy these days?

I haven't said it wasn't.

But, I'll endeavour to do as you do, and see the good, rather than the spoiled gluttons who never lift a finger or think past themselves.

I used to think people where apathetic and lazy then I realized people have forgotten how to help. 30-40 years ago we gave hard goods but when it comes to today how do you text someone your half worn shoes for aid?

We've already got 8-9 other Haiti Threads. This Earthquake only happened ten
days ago. Couldn't this fit into one of the other 8-9 Threads? I can merge it with
whatever thread you think it'll fit into for you....
Go for it Ron

The Medicine Wheel stuff has been moved to the Medicine Wheel Thread....
& the personal attacks and so on and so forth will be cleaned out....again. How
the misfortune of so many due to a natural disaster can't bring out so much
ugliness in so many blows me away.

It's not all about you Kakato, or me. If a map helps in explaination,a map gets posted. Control of supply is #1 bucky, you don't flood markets and drive your prices down, you carefully adjust the supply to extract from the market the greatest return. So in many respects not developing is as attractive as developing. You will obviously be surprised at the efforts expended to exercise control of oil supplies and how many have to die every day to keep it that way. A terrorist is a person who interferes in the supply chain and causes banker discomfort.

Anything to bash the States I guess.

Americans are in charge of the main airport and they are giving top priority to American traffic and slotting other international flights in where they can.

Americans were slow to respond to their fellow Americans prominently Afro-American community of New Orleans in the Katrina aftermath.

I just have to wonder if this happened to a white community would the Americans respond be any faster.

Who knows maybe US wants another American territory and what better place than next to Cuba

I hope most of the money goes to Haiti and not to the coffers of the relief agencies like the tsunami disaster.

You just can’t trust the relief agencies anymore.

In the last disaster less than 40 - 50% of monies made it to the affected areas.

The song is a good one and a feel good to get donations but you really don’t know anymore.
