Long Divided, Iran Unites Against Trump and Saudis in a Nationalist Fervor

Reading the article (excerpt below) one would think that Iran was a mild-mannered country stirred to fury by Trump's election and minor changes in Saudi Arabia. You wouldn't know that this was a country that:
1. Held repeated demonstrations where crowds yelled "Death to America" or "Death to Israel;"
2. Declared Israel a "cancer" that had to be wiped off the map;
3. Provided aid to Hezbollah and other regional pot-stirrers; and
4. Has been trying to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran is by all accounts one of the most dangerous nations on earth. Travelers are detained without reason or explanation, often on trumped-up charges. Just because Obama had some naive illusions about it being a regional force for peace, it is not.

The excerpts below would have you believe that Iran's dangerous bent is new.
New York Times said:
After years of cynicism, sneering or simply tuning out all things political, Iran’s urban middle classes have been swept up in a wave of nationalist fervor.

The changing attitude, while some years in the making, can be attributed to two related factors: the election of President Trump and the growing competition with Saudi Arabia, Iran’s sectarian rival, for regional dominance.

**********

At the same time, they now believe they have something to be proud of, with Iranian-led militias playing a central role in defeating the Islamic State militant group in Syria and Iraq, increasing Iran’s regional influence in the process.

Reading the article though one wonders how the reporters reach some of their conclusions. How do they know that "Iran’s urban middle classes have been swept up in a wave of nationalist fervor" or that "they now believe they have something to be proud of" in their prowess at killing people. Do the people speak freely to the press? And if they believed in world peace and brotherhood would they open their mouths and risk getting a bullet put through the head?

Sometimes I don't know what the media is thinking when it runs this kind of garbage.

Well, it's the media after all. Iran could very well get nukes, but probably not the way they expect. They will get them air mail.

ITs all about the USA and Russia. Usa uses Israel and Saudi to go against Russia's Syria and Iran.
Both countries are using the middle east as a battle ground at the expense of the population there.
They can get away with it because everybody there is deeply religious and so easily swayed by Russia and the states.

If you can somehow get a miracle from God and make everybody in that region a scientific thinker, then they would say screw this and there would be peace.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know that the reason all these people have died in Syria is because the USA wanted a pipeline through Syria to Europe from Saudi Arabia, to profit from gas, at the expense of Russia currently supplying it to Europe. Assad said no.
OF course Russia is not going to like it. Thats why they are heavily involved in Syria and keeping Assad there.

The States could not stand for that so then incited and armed a rebellion to expel Assad, who basically ran a secular government.

Dont believe me, check world events leading up to it.
Basically those hundreds of thousands of people died cause the USA wanted to supply Europe with oil, to grow more wealthy and to weaken Russia.

Main reason why there is war in the middle East.
USA, Russia, religion.

Iran doesn't necessarily need them if they can help other countries that are anti-US with theirs. Turns out Iran is the primary financial backer of North Korea's nuclear weapon's program.

However, a quick look back at history shows why the anti-US hostility got so high in Iran. Prior to the installation of the Shah, Iran held a free, open and democratic election. The people elected a man who wanted to nationalize Iran's oil reserves. This pissed off the US and the UK because it would cut them out of their very favourable position within Iran's oil fields. So, despite claiming to be the bastion of freedom and democracy, the US deposed the democratically elected leader of Iran and installed their own puppet regime.

Is it any wonder then that Iran, and several other nations for that matter, aren't exactly enthused with the American's exported version of freedom and democracy?
What the US calls freedom and democracy for others, the rest of us just call it for what it is, hegemony.

Last I checked stealing the oil companies' private property was cassus beli. The Nixon Administration was in no position to enforce the rule of law in that part of the world so you get Lord of the Flies.

The media is thinking of mindless readers like you who will swallow every fairy tale wrapped in the stars and stripes no matter how incorrect or plainly invented.

I'm not quite sure I follow what the "fairy tale" is. Is any of what I posted not true?

I'm curious got some credible links to back that up?
Sounds like the other times Iran was blamed for supplying weapons and it turned out to be Israel and the US and british names stamped on them.

In this case you have various US officials helping NKs nuclear program at various times and that's now common knowledge.

Funny how the Russians and Iranians did more to destroy ISIS than the Americans and Saudis

Maybe because ISIS is sunni, while Iran is shia.
Saudi Arabia is sunni and is allied with the states.

IT is also interesting how isis grew to power. How the Iraq military left Mosul full of tanks and weapons for Isis to walk in and take.
