We all pay through the nose for these services because the guvmint has to do its skimming.

The irony at this point is that businesses are contemplating downsizing in order to mitigate the tax-grab.

Looks like the plan is back firing on the gvt. Fewer people with full time work and lower revenues.

Partly. There is also the cutting back on investment in the province. Also the unidentifiable number of businesses that don't start up because investors choose to park their money elsewhere.

Good point.

Skilled labour is the governments job to train not the employers
Wow! Will they teach us how to wipe our bottoms, too? As a good example of why your idea is bad, I'll bet you were educated by the guvmint because there are blatant spelling errors in your post. Imagine electricians and plumbers trained by the guvmint. I shudder at the thought of it.

The only way to train skilled labour is OTJT. Government can only provide this kind of training to pencil pushers. Besides not many employers would want tradespeople trained to government standards of quantity and quality. They expect and pay for results.

Apprentices Gee I wonder if the government is setting the standards for training?

The government makes sure that the standards are met for skilled people and employers get to finish the training the government starts.
The government weeds out the workers that are not suited for the work.

Not to mention if I had a business building widgets, why would I want to hire a guy that I've paid the Gov't to train and have to start from scratch getting him to forget all the sh*t the Gov't taught him and teach him myself? Not to mention all the bureaucratic ideas he's picked up.

Wish I could give you another green to offset the dumb red one you got. Probably from a Romney supporter.

Thats hilarious. If governments had to weed out unsuitable workers they would have no employees themselves. If you had ever been near a trade school you would know better. I have 2 red seal trades so I have spent a day or two in school.

Apparently the provision of healthcare should be a global, inalienable human right...... A right that is so important that no one should have to pay for those services

It is listed as a basic human right by the UN. And I believe it should be an essential service fully funded through existing taxation.

Article 25.

(1) Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.
(2) Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights
