You have a bad attitude Cannuck, however, it is your right.
How is having compassion for those who self debase themselves a bad thing?

When you interact with your friends, do you usually tell them you are better then them?
You forget Peterson's snap election call in 1990 when the liberals were miles ahead in the polls. The Ontario electorate saw it as a sign of arrogance and gave the NDP a majority.
Not at all, Johnny. Do you remember that time? People were really mad at Mulroney. They wanted their revenge on him. However, Tories didn’t have to call an election for two, more years, they could not get at Mulroney.
Then Peterson was foolish enough to call an election. Peterson was chummy with Mulroney, that was good enough for the people (they had worked closely together on the Meech Lake Accord). If they could not vote against Mulroney, they were going to vote against Peterson.
They really were voting against Mulroney by proxy. You may notice that Tories also did terribly in that election. NDP was the only party they could turn to, so NDP won by default (much to the surprise and delight of NDP).
I have no idea what caused Peterson to call election at that time (three years into his huge mandate). But it was a huge mistake. And I think Mulroney was responsible for the miserable performance by Liberals. I don’t think it had anything to do with an early election.
In terms of a conservative majority being a 'good thing' at anytime - you're right.
you fail to address the fact that peterson was miles ahead in the polls. you say you have no idea why he would call an election at that time but you completely ignore the obvious. please, don't pretend to be naive. you expect us to believe you have an opinion on everything else but this?
you were right, tenpenny.
Johnny, that doesn’t explain why he called the election. Liberals would still have been comfortably ahead in another year. Mulroney was deeply unpopular, the voters were not going to turn to conservatives. Peterson already had a big majority. To me it didn’t make sense why he called the election.
Oh, I know I am right, Captain, and you are typical of many Conservatives. What you would like for Canada is a one party rule, similar to Iran or Saudi Arabia. Where there is a stern, benevolent dictator at the centre, who looks after all his flock (and severely punishes those who stray), where your party controls all the levers of power, there is a token opposition of course (one must have a pretense of democracy) and the farce of election every four years.
Indeed, that is the dream of Harper acolytes, of many conservatives. A perpetual Conservative rule is the ultimate Utopia, the ultimate paradise, nirvana to them.
No, there is no need. They already know that. The information I pass along to my friends is more along the lines of things they don't already know. For example, if you were my friend, I would tell you that Iggy is arrogant and spineless. I know that, at this particular moment in time, you can not acknowledge this reality but someday the light bulb will go on and you will realize that I was right all along (which is not surprising considering I'm better than you).
You are in a contest that consists of only one participant

captain morgan, when it comes to spin and re-writing (i.e. falsifying) history, no one could ever top SirJosephPorter.
Perhaps, JLM. However, when somebody agrees with Harper on just about everything, when he praises Harper to high Heaven, when he trashes Liberals at every opportunity, I draw the logical and reasonable conclusion that that somebody is indeed a loyal conservative, a committed Harper acolyte (in spite of what he may say).
careful there SJP... Your post sounds eerily like internet defamation, libel and slander (I know that you talk to the computer and verbalize all your posts)... This sure looks like a clear-cut case for the courts.
Where the hell is that DurkaDurka Esq. - I may need him as my internets lawyer.
SJP
Are you aware of the history behind that particular Hymn and why the man wrote it?
So SJP were you aware – a simple goggle search would provide the information but an honest answer is all that was requested – Were you aware of the history behind the writing on this Hymn.

There is no such thing as a typical Conservative or Liberal or N.D.P. The only thing there is, is a typical idiot who ties himself to any one of these entities.
