If he got over fifty percent of the seats, what does it matter? Diefenbaker may have got 50 percent of the vote but he was out of office in what, eighteen months. Mulroney got big numbers, but he just about destroyed the PC party.

Correction: Dief served one full term in majority and two short ones in minority government.

the threads established convention is to put emphasis on aggregate polling (via 308polling)... anyone can drop down a single poll... like this recent Forum Poll:

- Liberal (41%)
- Conservative (33%)
- New Democratic (17%)
- Green (5%)
- Bloc Quebecois (3%)
- Other (1%).

The most recent poll was done by EKOS Polling which is the same polling firm that had done the previous polls that were depicted on this site. EKOS is well known as a strong Liberal proponent yet it still showed this poll which showed that support for the Liberals and Justin Trudeau had fallen considerably. You can also be sure that the EKOS group checked the numbers very closely before publishing this revealing misfortune in the Liberal numbers.

It's weird how politicians promote these energy policies then when it all crumbles they say we can't blame them for it and it's all a bit of market unpredictability.

Right, so you can explain why we need to sacrifice the environment for short term economic gain, do it, explain why it failed, all with your best condescending authority. Conservatives simultaneously claim economic expertise and the inability to actually have any.

Actually Dief served about 6 years as P.M.:)
Ignore that, I just saw your update.

You shouldn't believe the news; do your own research.

That could be a little difficult as the news generally precedes any documentation one could read up on, besides I'm not about to go running down to the library after every newscast.:)

Stop it!!!! Your killin' me!!!

Listen, you fvcking dimwit............if you have something to say, come out and say it. You have already demonstrated you have the IQ of an eggplant, the morals of an alleycat, and the instincts of a rattlesnake, all of which serve you well in your role as troll.

One of those droolers that believe they are powerful behind the keyboard.

I begin to suspect you are about 11 years old..........intellectually if not physically.

I appreciate you giving Colpy a hand

Ahh...I see you are begin to develop an obsession with me.....so tell me, what was it that first attracted you to me??

Was it that twinkle of humour in my turn of phrase?

Or was it something darker?

Perhaps the way my arguments tie you in knots?

The way I walk all over you with my pointed rhetoric?

Or the lashing you take from my irresistible logic?

Whatever it is, I am not interested in your attempts to make up for your miniscule intellect............you may admire me from afar.

it's still a single poll from a single company; one facet of aggregation is to, of course, "smooth out" any outliers. In my last reference I highlighted the recent Forum poll... as just another single poll. Of course, with it having the Liberals at 41%/Conservatives at 33%, that Forum poll is clearly an outlier. The recent Leger poll from a few days ago has:
- Liberals @38%,
- Conservatives @32% and
- NDP @19%.
of course, what 308 Polling does is aggregate all polls (in a defined period) to present a "more balanced"(?) view of voter intent for the period in question.

Here it is!!

Liberal leader Justin Trudeau ruled out a coalition government, called climate change a serious threat and promised a national inquiry into murdered and missing women in a wide-ranging, year-end interview with Postmedia’s Mark Kennedy in his Parliament Hill office on Friday. Here is what he said:
Coalition with the NDP
There is constant political speculation about what Mr. Trudeau will do if Mr. Harper is re-elected with a minority government. Will Mr. Trudeau topple the Tories in Parliament and form a coalition government with the NDP’s Tom Mulcair?
“There are some very, very big impediments to forming a coalition with the NDP. Which is why I am against it.” He said the two parties are miles apart on issues such as international trade and the Constitution.
“With regard to constitutional issues and Quebec, I don’t think we should be making it easier for the country to separate.”

Okay, Mentalfloss, after that, how could anyone possibly support a coalition gov't as an ethical and positive action?
