A draw... too funny. Keep telling yourself that if Canada leaves it will be considered "a draw".

KABUL, Afghanistan: Taliban insurgents mounted their most serious attacks in six years of fighting in Afghanistan over the last two days, including a coordinated assault by at least 10 suicide bombers against one of the largest American military bases in the country, and another by some 100 insurgents that killed 10 elite French paratroopers.
The attack on the French, which took place in a district near Kabul, added to the sense of siege around the capital and was the deadliest single loss for foreign troops in a ground battle since the United States-led invasion chased the Taliban from power in 2001.
Taken together, the attacks were part of a sharp escalation in fighting as insurgents have seized a window of opportunity to press their campaign this summer — taking advantage of a wavering NATO commitment, an outgoing American administration, a flailing Afghan government and a Pakistani government in deep disarray that has given the militants freer rein across the border.
As a result, this year is on pace to be the deadliest in the Afghan war so far, as the insurgent attacks show rising zeal and sophistication. The insurgents are employing not only a growing number of suicide and roadside bombs, but are also waging increasingly well organized and complex operations using multiple attackers with different types of weapons, NATO officials say.

Eagle Smack your view in this debate is self serving….
US and Canada will get out of Afghanistan as losers from this war. The reason the rest of the NATO countries stayed out is because NATO understands that the number of troops NECESSARY ARE FAR MORE THAN ORIGINALLY THOUGHT AND WITH NO GUARANTEES EVEN IF FORE TROOPS WERE OFFERED FOR THIS WAR……
IN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS YOU WILL SEE THINGS WILL GET REAL STUPID OVER THERE….

No...you want them to be losers to prove your point. You want Canada to lose and run as victory is less important than your ego and the many like you.

Far more than originally thought? The Taliban was run out of the country with a handful of advisors and airpower AND by their own people. Sure they cross the border from time to time and most often get whallopped. Of course Canadians could kill a hundred Taliban in one night and lose one of their own and people like you would call it a total disaster. You're a defeatist and losing is important to you.

WAR SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSS AND I DON’T AGREE THAT IN ORDER TO MAKE OTHERS UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT OF VIEW IF THEY DON’T WE SHOULD KILL THEM………………

Tell that to them. I have not heard them wanting to come to the Peace table looking for a peaceful solution. If the Taliban wants to negotiate a cease fire all they have to do is say so. When there is peace...NATO will leave.

Soc, give up, you are talking nonsense! Yes, we are suffering from the deaths there, but we have a duty. Get over it.

Perfect example...the Taliban got their butts handed to them and failed in their objectives. They led an attack against the largest US base and ended up getting slaughtered. They cannot win unless we let them win.

Then you will be happy and relish in Canada's defeat I am sure.

It will be interesting to see who takes over Pakistan because that is where they are coming from. The Taliban's worst nightmare is having a pro-Taliban government because that means bye-bye to the safe haven.

Socrates, Canada has a war mission in Afghanistan, one we were obligated to take on by our signature on the NATO agreement, our signature on mutual defense treaties with the United States, and our obligation to the United Nations.

Our goals there are twofold: one is to help the Afghan people stabilize their country........the other is simply to prevent Afghan territory from ever again becoming a training ground for terrorists.

The first goal is difficult if not impossible to attain......the second we do simply by staying there. We must fight on.

At Dieppe in 1943, Canada lost 709 killed in seven hours. Here we have lost 90 in 7 years.......have we become so week-kneed that those losses cause us to turn tail?

That is all good Colpy, the fact remains that at some point when the ship starts to taking on water the Captain, guts or no guts, balls or no balls, he or she will have to instruct his or her crew to abandon the ship…….. this is no deferent Canada and the US ARE ON LOSER AVENUE. To win this war both Canada and the US need 10 times the amount of force on the ground in Afghanistan, and my dear friends they don’t have that kind of power to do the job. Plus Countries around the world should understand that the wrong war will finish this stupid civilization………..My Dear friends……………..

Lots of aid workers aren't Wolf it's one of the standard infiltration tactics employed for two hundred years at least. Many missionarys aren't. Give us a list of all the schools we've built in Afghanistan?

http://www.nato.int/ISAF/docu/epub/pdf/progress_afghanistan.pdf

In a young nation where the median age is 17.53, 2,000
schools were built or repaired in the last five years
and
around 6.4 million children (including 1.5 million girls) are
now in schools.

Since 2001, both infant and under-five mortality has
declined by 26% and 22% respectively.4
In 2001, 8% of Afghans had access to some form of
healthcare. Now more than 80%5 of the population has
access to medical care.

I don't know, I would think of Peacekeeping being where forces interject themselves between two warring parties. We quite clearly allied with one side. We didn't try to stop the Taliban and NA from fighting, we helped the NA whoop Taliban ass. Definitely picked sides. :violent3:

Security assistance is the same thing, and helping to rebuild schools etc.... Don't nitpick.

It is not even close.

In ANY type of peacekeeping, there is a peace to keep.....thus the title.....there is no peace between the warring factions in Afghanistan......and peacekeeping does not require troops to go out on search and destroy operations, which Canadian troops in Afghanistan do.....there is no such thing as peacekeeping anymore.....CATCH UP!

Did you even read the article I posted for you?

See previous page.

"The Taliban require ALL women to wear burquas in public. Do you see one?"

Do your research buddy --- that is the Taliban who met their founder and financier Reagan in the White House in 1983.

More obfuscation. As always, the right wingers can never bring themselves to admit that it is their Republican party that is the real cause of the world's hassles. Reagan's creation of the Taliban is just one such example.

It looks like the rooster has come home to roost; the Right wing in North America US and Canada has long ago set them selves to be demolished by the fundamentalist scum bags………Imperialism is a serious violation on human rights and the big bang is coming…………….I don’t want to see blood shed in Canada or the US, but the clouds of war are very dark, and usually dark clouds often point to a bad storm…….:-(
