usually have no concept of finances
You're right there. Just look at Labour's Miliband, Balls and Brown, the socialists who got Britain into its economic mess.

They attacked the government's cuts (which were necessary to cut the debt Labour created) saying they were going to put Britain into a triple dip recession.

But, inconveniently for Messrs Miliband, Balls and the rest of the Labour Party the British economy is now doing rather well and is outperforming every other major Western economy. The Tories' economic policy is, despite what the Left predicted, working. The IMF is now predicting 2.4% UK economic growth in 2014, more than any other major industrialised economy. One organisation has predicted even better growth for the UK economy this year - 3.2%. Unemployment has fallen to 7.1% - falling by 167,000 to 2.32 million in the three months to November - and the Prime Minister absolutely tore the Labour Party apart at PMQs in the Commons earlier today, pointing out that Britain has just experienced its biggest increase ever recorded of people getting jobs. The Labour socialists just had no credible answers. The fact that the British economy is now surging and is starting to boom is not good for the Labour Party's 2015 general election hopes. They'll be wanting Britain to remain in recession.

It's the way it's always been - the Labour socialists wreck the economy leaving the Tories to have to clean up their mess. Thatcher had to do it when she came to power in 1979 and Cameron had to do the same when he came to power in 2010.

And to top it all off, the socialist economic policies of France's President Hollande have been disastrous and France's economy is in freefall, the Sick Man of Europe. Yet he was lauded by the Left when he came to power, as though he was some sort of saviour. Marxist Miliband had a cheesy photo with him just after he was elected.

Meh. Cliffy's a leftist, but he's generally pretty steady. Be interested to hear what he has to say.
It is more of a feeling and I'm talking about end of empire - massive dept from endless wars, maintaining the largest military in the world. exploiting other people and countries to maintain their lifestyle, Racial tensions, the poverty quotient, all the wealth in so few hands, engineering economic crashes to isolate the riches into the hands of a few with no regard for those they hurt, the whole left/right rift in politics creating disharmony and discord where no compromise or progress can be made, a total focus on economic wealth with almost no consideration for the environmental consequences, - shall I go on?

I'm good with that. Never much liked empire anyway, and I've already said we should cut our military in half before we even start talking about how big it should be.

exploiting other people and countries to maintain their lifestyle,
Exploiting how, exactly? By trade?

Racial tensions,
Probably the lowest they've ever been.

the poverty quotient,
Up for now. It's a recession. They happen.

all the wealth in so few hands,
Still plenty of wealth spread around.

engineering economic crashes to isolate the riches into the hands of a few with no regard for those they hurt,
I'd have to see evidence of that.

the whole left/right rift in politics creating disharmony and discord where no compromise or progress can be made,
Politics as usual. A little worse than typical, but not much. Budget deal is going through.

a total focus on economic wealth with almost no consideration for the environmental consequences, -
Nonsense. By world standards, we're in the top 5% for strict environmental standards.

shall I go on?
You'd better. You haven't really made your case yet.

USA
America was born and built on the dead bodies of Native Americans. It was a violent and bloody beginning and continued for centuries. Live by the sword, die by the sword. America is reaping what it has sown. It is tearing itself apart from within. It is natural law.

You'll be needing a few items before you'll be able to see the proof.

Largely by slaves. What relevance has that to the here and now?

Everybody's past sucks, Cliffy. Dwelling on that turns you into a pessimist. What do you think about the fact that North America and Western Europe enjoy levels of peace, freedom, equality, and prosperity unequalled in human history?

Sounds to me like the trend is in the right direction.

Is America to be judged only by Kit Carson, Wounded Knee, and the slave block, or do Martin Luther King, the Thirteenth Amendment, and the Indian Gaming Act get into the mix?

It was a violent and bloody beginning and continued for centuries. Live by the sword, die by the sword. America is reaping what it has sown. It is tearing itself apart from within. It is natural law.
Wow, if that's true, Australia's pretty f*cked, seeing as how it was built on the dead bodies of Aborigines, and populated by criminals and the worst, most greedy, most lawless corps in the history of the British Army.

How is America tearing itself apart? The US Govt. is being delegitimized. A significant segment of the US population is giving up on American society. Pessimism brings detachment from the success or failure of the polity. Detachment is like a pathogen introduced into the body politic. Detachment makes the next step in national devolution more likely. Here's an example of pessimism:

You know what's ignorant? Spending more time and effort to dissect who and what you don't agree with instead of promoting what you do agree with. Starts off negative and stays that way.

Does put things in perspective. I doubt it is much different here in the corporation of Canada.

The 85 richest people in the world, have approx, the equivalent wealth/assets of the bottom or lowest 50 per cent of the worlds population assets.
