With Oil at Record Low, Canada Is Price War’s First Casualty
https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/oil-record-low-7-47-200928535.html

(Bloomberg) -- In the oil price war between Saudi Arabia and Russia, the first big victim is likely to be Canada.

Hit by unfettered supply from Russia and Saudi Arabia and reduced demand as a result of the coronavirus, the benchmark blend of crude produced from Canada’s oil sands plunged to a record low of $7.47 a barrel on Wednesday. The fallout: Virtually every barrel of oil now produced there will come at a loss.....

I know, right? It's like buying the five-gallon bucket of mustard at Costco!
Who needs five f*cking gallons of mustard?
Who needs a whole damn pipeline? Coupla miles is plenty.
Ya know the guy who bought the whole thing fell for the "volume discount" bullshit.
Pipelines are like land. You can never own too much.

Most of the island seems to be in the$1.15 -1.20 range on the island today. The one I drove past in Victoria all day bounced around in that range. Seemed like every couple of loads it was different.

I gassed up a couple of days ago in Vernon at $1.08.

Here we are stuck with the $4.5 billion 65 year old pipeline used for a product nobody wants.

And we're going to spend another $10 billion expanding it?

Only the Canadian federal government could get fleeced like that.

You just worry about the millions of gallons of raw sewage that you pump into the ocean each and every day (ironically by a bunch of pipelines)

COuld have bought Tesla shares for $900 instead of a measly $500. Too bad really.

$500?.. Tesla is now down to $ 350.00 The market has clearly spoken that EVs are dead... No one wants this unimportant tech anymore

That's $15 billion we could use saving Canadians from coronavirus instead of trying to save a dying industry from reality.
JUst think, if the foreign paid oil spitters had left things alone it would have been built and making money 5 years ago. Thats how socialism works. Make the economic climate untenable for private business to operate they buy it with taxopayers money and give it o your friends for pennies on the $$$$

That $4.5 Billion is probably paid back already as that line was not shutdown and pumping at full capacity

I have to wonder if the Solyndra debacle might prevent a bail out.

At any rate, Musk and a few others put up shares as collateral against loans not so long ago when the stock was in the $800s - $900s, I'll bet that Musk refuses to answer his phone knowing that the banks are cashing in on those shares in order to keep the contracted ratio in line.

Poor stupid hemerHOID!

It has not occurred to him that if Our idiot Boy and loser LIE-berals had DONE A DEAL with natives in the first place

and let PRIVATE SECTOR Kinder Morgan owners get on with building the pipeline

then LIE-berals WOULD HAVE SAVED $4.7 BILLION DOLLARS - NOT INCLUDING INTEREST!

And NOT INCLUDING for the eventual cost to complete the line!

If Our idiot Boy had been SENSIBLE - then WE WOULD NOT BE HOLDING THE ENTIRE BAG!

That would be your idiot boy. Your province elected him. Not very many people west of Winnipeg have any use for him.

The fact remains that we people of Ontario have zero control over how many more idiots choose to take up residence here.
