Oh I know about that. Here in liberal Massachusetts the liberals are all for wind farms, just not in their communities or in view of their yachts.

About the same up here, Eagle.......at least when it comes to the NIMBYs. Then too there are the animal activists who cry foul over the loss of birds silly enough to fly into the darn things.

I must make a correction. There are currently 51 different FN bands who support the pipeline according to Stephen Buffalo, President and CEO of Indian Resource Council of Canada.

Well, the good news is Spanky's administration has just issued "guidance" to Federal wildlife officers that there is no liability for killing migratory birds under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act unless "the underlying purpose was to kill migratory birds."

In other words, the oil companies are no longer liable for the birds killed when the skipper's passed out drunk and a rookie third mate drives the ship on the rocks.

MAGA!

... Like millions of gallons of raw sewage purposefully discharged into the ocean each and every day.

PS - You're in Washington State's backyard

Wind turbines kill many, many times more birds than the collective oil spills on an annual basis

An explanation I heard about 50 years was the combination of the salt water and the under currents rendered the sewage harmless, however that was back in the day when greater Victoria had a population of a little over a hundred thousand, today it's more like 300 thousands so I'm not certain that explanation would still "fly". (Not sure it's any worse than all the seagull shit)

The same dynamic operates with hydrocarbons (that includes bitumen).

Do a web search on bacteriological remediation of hydrocarbons and you'll see that they break down quite naturally in large part by the action of bacteria

They do, Cap and I should not have been so blithe in my comments about them.

I know that you weren't being cavalier on the topic Mo.... My comment was directed to add perspective to the issue

I agree and I think we should adjust the focus away from that, to minimizing the number and seriousness of spills and making them less harmful. Every endeavour we embark on has the potential of resulting in the consequences Cliffy alludes to but we should be working to reduce the severity of the potential and consequences, NOT the number of endeavours!

Worst case scenario is extremely unlikely. Small shit at a pumping stations is common and are easily remediated.

The same welders who build pipelines build other things that the people who are panicking use and trust 100% without ever questioning integrity.

It's lunacy.

Walk through any parking garage in any city and feast your eyes on the oil stains throughout.

... The ecoweenies are all concerned about a minor spill at a p/l hook-up or facility, yet merrily go on their way leaking oil from their clunker each and every day on the roads.

Good news for BCFerries.

SEagulls never flush medications down the toilet. ANyway that was just an excuse by the rich to not have to fork out for a proper sewage treatment plant.
