She looked it. Notice that she did not seem to get hardly any applause and some definite boos. It also looked like she was being handled by the lady beside her. She may have been trying to get her off the stage.
The way Harper has been going the past couple of weeks, voting for him wouldn't be intelligent either.
Say you are a Canadian living and working in a foreign country. Some country invades Canada and you decide to come home and fight against the invader. Are you a terrorist or a freedom fighter? If you drag your 13 year old son along with you, is he a terrorist or a freedom fighter? What if NATO and/or the UN sanctioned the invasion of Canada because we elected a commie government or whatever, does your classification as a terrorist by NATO or the invaders mean you or your son are not fighting for the freedom of Canada from an invading army?
Well, just so we are arguing on the same playing field, Omar's father was an Egyptian-Canadian. Neither Egypt or Canada were being invaded so your little hypothetical is not an exact match. Below would be an equivalent situation (modified from your quote -- modifications in bold):

I have to say I need to correct myself. The original sentence was 8 years in 2010. So his release date is probably 2018. This is different than I had thought -- I had thought it was a longer and a harsher sentence. Given this, I am not sure why this is bail and not parole in this case as I think he may be entitled to it.
That said, this does not change my belief that he is and was a terrorist scum and is and always will be a danger to Canadians in some form or another. But legally he should be entitles to a parole hearing if he has served enough of his sentence. One of the true disadvantages of living in a free society.

Were Canadians who enlisted in the US military during the Vietnam War terrorists? You do realize that Vietnam was started over a false flag operation (Bay of Tomkin)? You do realize that Iraq and Afghanistan were both started over false pretenses? Dubbya said that the invasion of these countries was part of a crusade (Christians against Muslims). Why would anybody be surprised if Muslims from other countries went to join their fellow Muslims in other countries to fight off the invading Christians? This has been going on for over a thousand years. Whatever, there is no logical reason to label this kid was a terrorist. There is even less reason to label the man a terrorist.

How can you " deraticalize " someone who does not have any sense of being radical ? He is a normal average functioning member of his community . Sadly that community is so far removed from our save comfortable existence that we cannot even imagine that it exists .

Very interesting reading on Vietnam. All before my time. History can be interesting and certainly every country seems to like to weave webs of deceipt to justify their positions.
As to Canadians who enlisted, a couple of points. They enlisted in a foreign army. I am not aware of Omar having made such a formal enlistment. The army was not fighting against their own country. This is similar to Canadians fighting against ISIS now and different than those fighting for ISIS. And again, this makes them different than Omar who was fighting against Canada and Canadian interests and therefore is rightly labelled a terrorist.
As to W and his speeches, I do not recall specific rhetoric from W about Christians vs. Muslims. The speeches I heard tended to point out that we were not at war with all Muslims. And just to be clear, I was never a supporter of W. I consider him to be the single worst president the USA has had for quite some time. And I would love to attribute more bad to him. But I do not recall him making such a speech. It sounds to me like somebody who has a general vendetta against wars in general may have heard more from the speeches that was actually there.

I've heard a lot of apologies in my life that were nothing more than empty words. Personally I am much more impressed with actions than I am with words. He said that he will show Harper that he will be much more than what Harper thinks so I'm watching for that. In his speech I watched on T.V. the other night, he did express regret for the past acknowledging there is nothing he can do to change that. I'd be inclined to let it go at that. We don't actually know what transpired in Afghanistan 13 years ago.
