I actually think that Khadr was a victim of circumstance. His father was a lunatic jihadist, the rest of his family is off the chart anti-west, so what of a kid who gets dragged to another Country under the ideological craziness of these things. Like it or not, Omar Khadr was enlisted into this as a child and his actions were molded by a bunch of crazy people. I don't think he should have been sent to Gitmo, I think an opportunity to undo the damage was missed and now we are worried because he is an adult who might turn back to radical Islam. Shame on us for not getting this kid out of Gitmo earlier and making a real attempt at deprogramming him. I also don't see him as a terrorist. The US soldier killed was in a war zone, in many of these Muslim Countries children are used as fodder by the ignorant and uneducated. Do we arrest every child that is indoctrinated? Lock them up as terrorists.

Time to re-think things I would say.

I don't see Omar Khadr as any real threat.
One-word answer: Yup.

Getting a little tired of the Prime Minister's obsession with religious conflict. I have not seen much effort spent by this government on keeping criminals of this level or worse than this guy, in jail. He is prejudiced against Muslims, and that's regarded as OK, because he's the boss. Well, it's not!
Federal elections can't come soon enough!

Do Harper and his minions not consider this guy as a potential re-offender and one who hasn't completed his sentence?

I suppose if he was a muslim we would hear about it.............

The man responsible for beheading fellow passenger Timothy McLean on a Winnipeg-bound Greyhound bus has been given the OK to be transferred to a group home in the city — a potential move that has stirred emotions from outrage and fears of a mob mentality, to compassion and understanding for the mentally ill.

Vince Li, who had untreated schizophrenia, was found not criminally responsible (NCR) for stabbing and beheading McLean, 22, and eating parts of his body in 2008.

Li had spent the last seven years in the Selkirk Mental Health Centre, but was moved to the Health Sciences Centre locked psychiatric ward after a February decision by the Criminal Code Review Board to give him more freedom.

Part of that decision allows his treatment team to move him to a level 5 group home in the community, with 24/7 staff and a curfew.

From Ezra! Ya gotta be kidding.

Levant is a bit of an A$$hole. He's trying to equate a 28 year old man with a 15 year old boy. It is time to put the events of 13 years ago to rest and get on with the future. There's just no way Omar can correct mistakes from the past. It's still not 100% certain he murdered any one.

Khadr said he lied to get out of Gitmo, maybe we should sent back to Gitmo then and have him start over.

Lt.-Gen. Romeo Dallaire supports Omar Khadr

Omar Khadr is a victim.
That's what retired Lt.-Gen. Romeo Dallaire and the Romeo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative executive director Shelly Whitman have said in a statement following the release of Khadr, 28, on bail on Thursday.
In the statement Dallaire and Whitman said he was a child soldier, not a terrorist.
"Recruited at 13 years old, then shot and taken prisoner two years later, the story of Omar Khadr has been nothing if not infuriating," the statement reads.
"As a child, Khadr was forced to move to Afghanistan and join al-Qaeda by his father. It is believed that during a raid on Khadr's compound, the 15-year-old threw a grenade, killing Sergeant Christopher Speer, a Delta Force strategic forces soldier and medic. Eight years later, he pleaded guilty under duress. But over the past decade, Khadr's rights have been violated time and again. From the very beginning, he has been denied the right to due process and a fair trial, the right to protection from torture and -- perhaps most appallingly -- the rights stemming from the Convention on the Rights of the Child."

He's clearly a misunderstood youth. When he kills again it will no doubt be the fault of conservative politics or not enough weed. This boy/man obviously will not be responsible for his actions.

It sickens me that so many otherwise intelligent people seem so keen on supporting this lowlife loser. I seriously hope it's not your loved one he kills next.

Quite honestly I'd feel safer in his company than with some stranger who accosted me on the street. He's not going to do anything, he's under rigid surveillance 24/7. You're judging a person at age 28 by what he was alleged to have done at age 15. Maybe it's you who's the "lowlife loser". :)

You should invite him into your home to live.... All in the name of feeling 'safer'

...Yeah, you don't believe in him that much, eh?

And that would prove what? I wouldn't invite the Prime Minister to my home to live...............so it's a stupid f**king statement!

Nobody is under surveillance 24/7. He is on the loose. As captain says, why don't you open your home to him if he is so trustworthy.

He has done what he has done. He has shown no remorse or done anything to make be believe he is a different person. If you trust him, good on you. Put your money where your mouth is. I don't.

Rummy is kinda famous for that.

HarpoCons are buying into their fearless leaders bigotry and paranoia mongering. I would listen to Lt.-Gen. Romeo Dallaire before any of the hysteria being spouted by some on here who have no fukking idea about this guy other than the propaganda being spewed by the likes of Harpo and Ezra.

You are obviously of the same mentality as the Capt. and it's this kind of ignorance that just causes so many problems where there is no need. It's no use discussing it further. (You obviously didn't watch the C.B.C. news last night)

Rummy is kinda famous for that.

yeah, we've seen a few examples of that!

Not at all . Why could a 15 year old child conquer the world 2500 years or so ago and now a 15 year old does not have control of their actions ? Were you stupid at 15
He's stupid today. There's no evidence that he was ever any smarter then.

LOL I am causing problems? You may discuss or not discuss whatever you like. It's a free country (one that your little buddy decided to fight against I might add).

And no, I rarely get any of my propaganda from CBC unless it has a puck and some ice or has a last name Mercer. I am sure they did a lovely piece of background on the little rapscallion.

No he didn't watch. Let's get our facts straight. In fact, he saved a hell of a lot of people. You want to blame someone for Rwanda you can blame the UN for ignoring repeated requests by Dallaire and you can blame the Clinton Administration for refusing to use the word "Genocide" to avoid becoming involved in the run up to that massacre.
