Let's all pretend that the ten-and-a-half mil woulda gone to homeless vets if Khadr didn't get it.

Screwing vets is one thing the Libs and the Tories agree on completely.

Being outraged about this is completely SJW by the way.

Looks like conservatives are having an identity crisis.

It's an ignorant misrepresentation to blame Trudeau and the Liberals for this. It was a judicial decision, not a political decision, the executive branch of the government had nothing to do with it.

I think there are three basic facts in this that many people are overlooking. First of all a killing in the combat of war is not considered to be murder. The fact that he admitted the killing to get transferred to another prison can not be construed as guilty beyond reasonable doubt. The fact he was 15 when all this started pretty much waters down his culpability in the process. JMHO.

Actually, you're wrong. A court cannot convict someone of an offense unless each element of the offense is proved beyond a reasonable doubt. An admission of guilt, if accepted by the court is the standard of proof required to establish a conviction. The court has the obligation to determine that the defendant fully understands the charge, terms, and sentence, and has option not to accept the guilty plea, and will not accept it if it does not meet strict parameters and is not agreed to by both the defense and prosecution.

It was a judicial decision to approve and accept the settlement that was agreed to by both the Government and the claimant. It was not a judicial decision for the Government to accept the settlement, it could have been rejected and brought before the court to determine the outcome. The decision to accept this deal was political.
