A Mouse Once Bit My Sister
No one has made me that proposal, but it wouldn't bother me too much if he was in the neighbourhood under supervision. We already have a lot of bad asses that are far worse than him. From what I understand of the military you do what you are told.

C'mon now JLM, don't you want to give the wee lad a chance?

Having him under 'supervision' is simply one small step away from 'warehousing' him... On that note, how about send him to Afghanistan to answer for the potential crimes that he may have committed there? I'm guessing that you'd shy away from that option, in my view, since the lad saw fit to travel to wreck havoc there, he should also be held responsible.

Let's see, one shot 15 year old throwing a grenade at an attacking enemy that has just killed his father and friends compared to thousands of soldiers killing thousands of innocent women, children and elderly innocent bystanders. What do you think?

Whadda think that the Taliban do there daily Cliffy? Are you under the impression that the recent poisoning of girls at a school was an accident? How about the acid face wash visited on some young girls - was that the foreign soldiers?

On that note, lets talk about the innocents that have died. Are these the same people that the Khadrs hid amongst, knowing full well that carnage followed their every foot step put their lives at risk, or maybe you're talking about the innocents that Khadr Sr convinced to strap bombs to their chests (conveniently made by his loving son, Omar) to detonate in public places.

As far as his dad dying, it's not like some special forces men stormed into their Scarborough home and murdered him. He was killed as a byproduct of his actions as a terrorist.

Are you still living under the delusion that the government of Afghanistan asked us to go there? They didn't. Nato decided to go in there under false pretenses. It had nothing to do with humanitarian reasons.

It appears that you are under the impression that Khadr Sr and Jr traveled - selflessly - to aid the Afghan people.. Yep, a couple of real super heroes, those 2.

The minute that you accept the fact that both Khadrs made the conscious and deliberate decision to wage their cowardly war, you might see reality as opposed to just bashing the US military or the NATO efforts.

Are you seriously under the delusion that that is the reason he should be denied entry into Canada?

I think that it's convenient for him to hold Omar on a pedestal in order to continue further justification in vilifying the military and the USA.

That would be Canada...

Khadr at the age of 14

Born September 19, 1986
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Great, then lets extradite him to Afghanistan to answer for the crimes he committed over there... That make ya happy?

A Black day for Canada?

It is time for compassion.

You willing to go to bat for Ronald Smith too?

Maybe I'm a bleeding heart, Bear, I have no way of really knowing what he's like now and I don't really know the exact details and circumstances of what he did then. Ten years have passed under pretty horrific conditions like water boarding. I just have a feeling if he was given a chance it may be better for all in the long run. BUT I COULD BE WRONG.
You are. He was never waterboarded.

the point is, violence begets violence and this crap has been going on so long that nobody knows who threw the first punch. Perhaps it is time to reassess the situation, call a truce and see if we can be friends instead of all this emotional, knee jerk, reactionary crap.
9-11

If he is a danger, we could always deport him to his place of origin,
His place of origin is Scarborough, a suburb of Toronto.

But then, we lead the bombing of Libya. How does that make us any better than Khadr's parents again?
Always with the strawmen; stick to the subject.

You are right about that Cliffy, it's too bad that people are at their stupidest at the very time they are making the most important decisions of their life. I think stupidity should be reserved for people in their 60s and older, at a time when we can enjoy it at the same time being too harmless to hurt others.
There are innumerable leaders that were mass murderers well into their 60's and beyond; Stalin, Mao, Al-Bashir, Kim Jong Il, Than Shwe.....

I don't really care what happened in his youth.
You should, it goes a long way to exposing what he was, what he sought to become, and what his family is.

He must be 25 now, at least. I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I would think though, that 10 years in Gitmo would have fried his brains and he would of no use to anyone.
If he is, since his own commentary on the matter is that he's no longer the person he was.

But his mother is still the woman that thought it was great he was making IED's.

That's going to be his surety, his mentor, his mother.

If his family hates Canada, why are they still here?
Welfare, health care, and a cushy life style.

I'm not so certain the Khadr's hate Canada.
Ron and I are referring to commentary from the same radio show. Where Ohmar's mother and sister spent the better part of an hour, bashing Canada. I could live with and fully support their beliefs on the war in Afghanistan, but they preached hate about Canadian Jews, much like you do about Israeli Jews. They stated they hated how Canada was secular, and that if they had their way, Canada would be an Islamic state. With the strictest sense of Sharia as it's ruling law.

I suspect its our wars in the middle east they hate.
I suspect you just ignore what you don't like.

BTW, Khadr was in Afghanistan before 9/11 and his bomb making activities started out as part of the effort to support one side of a Afghan civil war.
My point exactly!

I support locking up Khadr until he's deemed safe.
I support sending him to Afghanistan.

If Khadr was treated as per International and Canadian laws regarding child soldiers and torture, he'd probably be harmless by now.
Do you have any way to back that p with some facts?

I listened to her & Omar's Sister doing a radio show interview a while back,
and they're.....I can't think of any nice way to describe them. Let''s just say
they're not good.
I heard the same show bud. I have nothing but contempt for those two.

No. I think he is probably completely FUBARed from being at Gitmo for all these years. I think he should probably under go complete psychiatric assessment. That is not what my point was about. I was responding to attitudes about enemies. As far as I'm concerned the whole Khadr affair is a smoke screen to draw attention away from the real crimes that we committed in the name of "serving" our country.

Could you clarify what smoke screen you are referring to?

Khadr family - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Khadr family (أسرة خضر) is a Canadian family noted for their ties to Osama bin Laden and alleged connections to al Qaeda.[1][2] The family maintains that they have not broken any Canadian laws, and they have never been charged with any crimes by Canadian authorities.

In their 2008 report concerning Mahmoud Jaballah, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) stated that Omar and Abdulkareem attended "training camps".[21] In late October 2010, Omar Khadr pleaded guilty to charges against him in a military tribunal, admitting to having received "one-on-one terrorist training from an al-Qaeda operative and that he threw the grenade that killed U.S. Sergeant Christopher Speer".[22]

On June 4, 2010 the youngest member of the family, paraplegic Abdulkareem Ahmed Khadr, 21, surrendered himself to Canadian police and has since been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault and child molestation, which he denies.

World News: Khadr family views won't help Omar, lawyer says - thestar.com

WASHINGTON– The notorious Khadr family has launched their own public relations campaign in an effort to quash their reputation as "Canada's First Family of Terrorism" and put the case of Guantanamo detainee Omar Khadr on the federal election agenda.

The move was condemned by Khadr's U.S. military lawyers, who are trying to maintain distance between Khadr's views and those of his family.

TheKhadrLegacy.com went online yesterday as a press release quoting Khadr's sister Zaynab was emailed to reporters.

"Our brother is being held in Guantanamo Bay based on the lies told by both the American and Canadian governments," she stated. "(An) election is the perfect opportunity to tell those politicians that we are not going to be their bogeyman any longer."

Zaynab Khadr and her mother Maha Elsamnah were vilified in Canada following a March 2004 CBC documentary entitled Al Qaeda Family. The story profiled Khadr's older brother Abdurahman but featured interviews with his sister and mother where they spoke with ambivalence about the 9/11 attacks and criticized Canada's liberal laws. Elsamnah said she would rather raise her children to fight than live in Canada where they could become homosexuals or addicted to drugs.

U.S. Lt.-Cmdr. Bill Kuebler, Omar Khadr's military-appointed lawyer, said he believed the family's plea would have a negative impact.

"I share the extreme displeasure of most Canadians with Maha and Zaynab Khadr. Omar has specifically and repeatedly asked them to stop making public statements on his behalf – they don't represent him or his views," Kuebler said yesterday.

Khadr, who was captured in Afghanistan in 2002 at the age of 15, is scheduled to go on trial next month in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, charged with war crimes.

Reaction to the Khadr family website yesterday was mixed. Most comments on the Star's website said the family should first apologize for past comments

I am against all war criminals and people who commit crimes against humanity. I am against giving Jews or Israelis a free pass out of guilt over the holocaust and I'm willing to express my opinions against these war criminals even if it means a troll like CB will try to smear me with an antisemitism label.

Regarding CB, claim that the Khadr's preached hate about Canadian Jews

Link please.. Please post a reference to the Khadr's preaching hate about Canadian Jews.. I couldn't find a quote from a more reliable source than a resident forum troll... As far as I can determine, the Khadr's hate Canada's tolerance of homosexuals and recreational drug use....

There is no use discussing entire segments of people (except for politicians and snake oil salesmen) they are all different. If you profess to be a Christian you are supposed to love all people. Do you ever think about any lighter subjects?

Perhaps we should just shoot him and solve the conundrum.

Cliffy, are you kidding me?!?!
and you said.. “…... If he is a danger, we could always deport him tohis place of origin…..”

First off, there are many, many criminals of different sorts in Canada who should have beendeported long ago. A couple problems are the appeals that they are ‘entitled’to and others not being held in custody till they’re put on a plane and theydisappear ‘into thin air’.
BESIDES, HEWAS BORN IN CANADA.WHERE THE HECK WOULD YOU DEPORT HIM TO?? Appears He is classed as a ‘United StatesPrisoner of War’, …
As far as hisfamily is concerned, since at least 1986, they have moved from Pakistan, RETURNEDto Canada, to Afghanistan, to Canada, to Afghanistan, ran to Pakistan, whenthings started to get ‘ugly’ in Pakistan, back to Canada. Even have a quick peak at Wikipediasites about him and his family…

You ask.. If his family hates Canada, why arethey still here?
BECAUSE IT”S ASAFE COUNTRY!!!! And all its HEALTH and socialbenefits. … (example: In 1992, Khadr'sfather was severely injured while in Logar, Afghanistan; the Khadr family moved back to Toronto so he could recuperate).A brother is disabled..
IN MY MIND,that’s called 'free' HEALTH benefits.. and more than likely other 'social' type benefits.

“The familymaintains that they have not broken any Canadian laws, and they have never beencharged with any crimes by Canadian authorities.”
I believe ifthey ever left Canada, they will always come back, as in the past. Where else would they get ‘free’ health careand all other social services, etc. etc

Cliffy, are you kidding me?!?!

No, I didn't know he was born here. So what? He has been in captivity for 10 years. I know a lot of people who had questionable youths who were born in this country who have grown into responsible adults. Teen years can be wild and recless times and many a law has been broken. I often thank the gods that I was never caught for some of the stuff I did because if I had been in prison, I would probably be a criminal today. All I'm saying is this kid has been convicted in the court of public opinion and I don't think he is given a fair shake. All we know about him is what we have been fed by biased media who I wouldn't trust with the truth if their lives depended on it.

He was 15 for Christ sakes!

Don’t care at all what his agewas at the time. LOOK AT THE HISTORY of him and his family.

Always with a qualifier - How are they related- The parents and grandparents mentally coerced- abused a child into Jihad- to kill -

Is that a crime or not?

Is that child abuse or not?

Sent him overseas to train and fight? Is that not a crime. And yes they were still fighting in Afghanistan prior to 911.

As I repeat my previous post.... you probably have not read it...

I think there is a chance he could be rehabilitated, Cliffy, BUT I also have no idea how badly he has already been "programmed". No doubt he'd have to be closely watched for awhile, at the same time it's sad when a kid has wasted his life by age 15.

You both try to portray anyone who criticizes Israel's atrocious human rights record as being antisemitic including Jews like me. That's right. I'm Jewish on my mother's side. More or less confirmed now. Circumstantial evidence is now supported by legal docs. My maternal grandmother's family name was Sklar originally, before her Grandfather changed their family name, fled Russia to Poland and converted to Catholic.

If I pushed it, I'm pretty sure I could emigrate to Israel as a Jew and get full citizenship.

BS.

1, You don't simply criticize Israel, you post anecdote like it's fact. You ignore fact. You dismiss anything that doesn't promote your hate.
2, No one here has ever called out anyone that has used critical thought in their criticism of Israel.

Hell, I've criticized Israel. Has anyone call me a Jew hater?

That's right. I'm Jewish on my mother's side.
BS Vince.
