The story broke late Thursday evening, and most news outlets still haven't picked it up yet, but Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced he would not be seeking reelection and will be stepping down as leader as soon as a new leader is found to lead the Grits into the next election. When asked if he was pressured to step down due to sagging polls and popularity numbers that are at an all-time low. "For the good of Canada. It's time to step aside, and let someone else lead the battle of identity politics and fucking the middle class right in the the dirty spot. No, he's not resigning, but a guy can dream.

Phew…who isn’t tainted by the Trudeau stench though to step in? Most of his cabinet are currently toxic due to their interaction with Trudeau Jr.

Pretty much any liberal who has ever served in cabinet for Trudeau is going to be a loser vote wise.
So definitely not Freeland for example…

Former central bank Governor Mark Carney…everyday man…relatable to struggling Canadians? I think not.

Good thing that Justin and Jagmeet just renewed their vows in the non-coalition coalition that’s definitely not a coalition-type coalition agreement thing…or Trudeau might become a lame duck leader until a suitable replacement is found in the above senario.

Trudeau and his ministers are in Halifax for a three-day cabinet retreat to prepare for the upcoming fall sitting of Parliament.
"All of us here have tremendous confidence in the prime minister. We have confidence in him as the leader of our government, as the prime minister of Canada, and we have confidence in him as our party's leader," Trudeau’s Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland told reporters on Monday in Halifax…etc…
1724720033387.jpeg
"Anyone that wants to be the prime minister of this country has to have a vision for Canada and I think the prime minister is doing a great job in making sure that he's reflecting (on) what Canadians are saying and hearing," Trudeau’s Immigration Minister Marc Miller said on Monday.
1724720365800.jpeg
Leading up to the retreat in Halifax, there had been speculation that Trudeau might shuffle his cabinet as a reset for his minority Liberal government, but so far, that has yet to happen.
1724720383707.jpeg
Two other federal byelections are coming up on Sept. 16 in the ridings of LaSalle-Émard-Verdun, Que., and Elmwood-Transcona, Man. The Liberal party has won all three elections in the Quebec riding since it was created, but recent polling shows it could be a three-way race between the major federal parties.
1724720410404.jpeg
"I'm confident that we can win the byelection in LaSalle-Émard-Verdun," Trudeau’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly told reporters.
1724720492039.jpeg
But Joly also admitted the Liberals have more work to do.
1724720439067.jpeg
"Are people ‘preoccupied’ about affordability, housing? Of course they are, and we're not (completely?) disconnected from that.
1724720462005.jpeg
So we need to work on it, and we need to be able to provide the hope that is necessary in these times where a lot of people are feeling lots of anxiety," Joly said. Anxiety?

They're all about the adverbs.
Liberal pollster and founder of the firm Relay Strategies, Kyla Ronellenfitsch, said the government’s “fundamental, strategic flaw” was not already having such an ad campaign in place to aggressively define Mr. Poilievre.

Barring a change in (Liberal) leadership, she said that is likely the party’s only hope to change its trajectory.

“Voters have to actually fear him (=Smear Campaign against Poilievre) or he has to be so unpalatable in their eyes that the continuation of Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister is viewed as preferable to a potential Prime Minister Pierre Poilievre,” Ms. Ronellenfitsch said.

So in what order will they dredge out the old & tired & fried bullshit of gun control and abortion and extremism, or will it be extremist and gun control and abortion, or maybe to really shake up it’ll be abortion and extremism and gun control and (yeah, I know) abortion???
By October of 2025, will the Liberals be ready to call more that 50% of the population of Canada Right Wing-ish Extremists?

Wait, wait, wait... thought that us in the Maritimes were "Liberal certainty". Pretty sure I heard that somewhere at some point?

The ONLY reason the Cons are going to win isn't because of PP and the no policies he has, but that so many hate Trudeau. Not exactly the best reason to vote for someone.

Recently? Noticed they’re not having their clubhouse meeting in Regina, or Red Deer, etc…? Maybe the thought of Nova Scotia is the Libs best bet of taking a province in the Maritimes at this point…but that could be a coincidence.

NDP might get this next one in the protest vote…
"I'm confident that we can win the byelection in LaSalle-Émard-Verdun," Trudeau’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly told reporters.
The Liberal Party of Canada is facing a revolt by ministerial staffers, mostly of Arab and Muslim origin, over the Trudeau government's handling of the war in Gaza and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict generally, etc…

Fifty-two Arab and Muslim staffers working in the Liberal government signed a letter addressed to "the leader of the Liberal Party" that says they will not participate in its byelection campaign to hold on to the seat of LaSalle–Emard–Verdun, left vacant by the resignation of former Liberal justice minister David Lametti.
Staffers are not acting alone. They have also asked for and received the support of a group of influential Arab and Muslim donors to the Liberal Party known as the Network 100-GTA, London, Ottawa, Montreal….& Jagmeet can use the cash influx. Vote NDP/Liberal instead of Liberal/NDP and done.

The donors have also said they will withhold their support from the government in the crucial bye-byelection where the Liberals face a strong challenge from the New Democrats.

In their letter, staffers indicate they will not participate in activities as party members until the government changes its diplomatic posture to "join our allies in explicitly condemning Israel for its numerous war crimes and for the genocidal rhetoric from members of the Israeli Cabinet."

They also demand that Canada "join our allies, including Norway, Spain, and Ireland in recognizing the state of Palestine," and "acknowledge anti-Palestinian racism as a unique form of hate and work to address it in Canada."

The staffers also echo the NDP/Liberal’s demand that the government revoke existing arms export permits to Israel, and close loopholes that allow Canadian-made arms to be shipped through third countries.

Finally, they call for an end to "all research collaboration on military and dual-use technologies between Canadian and Israeli researchers."

CBC News has reached out to both the Prime Minister's Office and the Liberal/NDP Party of Canada for comment.
1724870810139.jpeg
"I'm hoping that the Liberal/NDP party recognizes that this is not some people who may or may not be donating," said Hussein Hamdani, a founding member of that fundraising group added. "Maybe they think they can find other donors, but you can't just find 50 staff overnight.

Wasn't that how we got Turdeau in the first place?

Morons voting with the "Anyone but Harper" movement?

Look where that got us.

Maybe we need some idiocy to offset the idiocy?

Sorry I meant Herr Harper .
No.

Mostly because under Turdeau those scientists are trying to tell us that men are women.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked about his decision to stay on as Liberal leader as his personal popularity has slid and his party has stayed down in the polls. He said the next election is still more than a year away and his party is focused on delivering until then. Well, there goes the speculation on an early election….

Canadians have had high levels of dissatisfaction with the government in Leger’s survey going back more than a year. Enns said short of a major misstep by the Conservatives it will be hard for the Liberal/NDP’s to reverse course.

The NDP/Liberal faces a crucial test next month in the Elmwood—Transcona byelection. The party has held that Winnipeg seat, almost uninterrupted, since the 1980s. The riding is usually a two-way battle between the NDP/Liberals and the Conservatives, with the Liberal/NDP’s in a distant third.

In the Leger poll, the Conservatives lead across the country, except in Quebec where they are in third place with 23 per cent support, behind the Bloc Quebecois at 29 per cent and the Liberal/NDP at 27 per cent. The poll also has bad news for Liberal/NDP supporters as Canadians continue to be dissatisfied with the Trudeau government.
