Should have just eliminated the position. GG is just another political parasite position. Or, if we are to have a queens representative in Canada then Britain can pay the bill.
If things are going to be done in our best interests, don't you think WE have to pay the piper? :)

$350,000 annually plus perks for the rest of her life. She is only one among many and couldn't spend the money if she tried. And this is just the gravy after a career of glutinous abuse of power and entitlement.

All this has happened in the last fifty years within a couple of generations. There is no tradition. It's not sustainable.

Julie Payette seems well on her way returning to normal living after her cut-short stint as Canada’s Governor General.

On Monday, French-language newspaper Journal de Montreal spotted the former vice-regal crossing off names at an election-day polling station in Montreal.

“She worked yesterday as a deputy returning officer at a polling station in the parish of Saint-Paul-de-la-Croix, in the Montreal riding of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, our photographer noted,” the article stated in French.

The photo, the newspaper said, shows a masked Payette wearing a yellow Elections Canada nametag, seated at a table with a pen and papers.

Payette, an Canadian Space Agency astronaut and veteran of two NASA Space Shuttle Missions, was appointed as Canada’s 29th Governor General in Oct. 2017.

She resigned this January following an independent review which found she fostered a toxic work environment at Rideau Hall, and that she and her former secretary belittled and harassed staff.

The position remained vacant until former diplomat Mary Simon was sworn in as Canada’s Governor General in July.

Payette is entitled to an annual $150,000 pension for serving as Governor General.

Since there's a new speaker needed in parliament some people are suggesting Lizzie May for the job-others are saying she would make a good Bitch-Governor-in- Charge.
I thought party leaders couldn’t be the speaker of the house? Isn’t she cocaptain with somebody we’ve never heard of who doesn’t even have a seat in Parliament, of the Green party?
