How about a tooth for an eye ? Two teeth even.

She's playing the long game. If she gets life, which means life, she might.............way in the future, be granted parole.........longshot, but she sure won't if she's dead.

Which is what she would be if I was on the jury.

Yes, prisoners have rights.......................to three meals a day and a warm dry place to sleep. I wasn't aware that any of that was taken away!

Define three meals. Does it need to be not spoiled?

...and trying your Liberal reverse psychology attempt to say I must be just like her.. no, not working. It's the justice system and I severed on many a jury in Fort Worth, Texas. You are charged by the Government to be part of the justice system and give your decision under the law.

With the facts that I have, I would give her the death penalty. I don't feel that she is honestly remorseful and feel strongly in the death penalty if you kill someone, particularly in the horrific manner she did to this young man, you should have to give your life in return.

An eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth.

Funny, my view of the death penalty is based more in my Catholicism than it is in politics.

Who cares about prisoner rights. Hmmm.

Well, JLM's discussion surrounding Arpaio is, admittedly, a sidetrack we should have started a new thread for, as it doesn't directly apply to Arias.

But, to tie the two together....
The purpose of a prison system is to keep society safe. It is not to visit daily tortures upon prisoners. We are better than Arias. So long as she is locked away and society is safe, there is no reason to visit injury upon her, other than personal vindictiveness, and that has no place in a 'justice' system.

What part of that confuses you?

They are building more prisons in the USA.. Maybe in Canada, they are to keep the public safe and rehabilitation.. it's suppose to be punishment.

Sure, I'm not 100% for the death penalty.. only in certain cases.. this being on of them..

However I would like to see prisons built way up north and prisoners be put on a chain gang and given hard labor. Screw the color TV, work for your stay.. on a dam rock pile.

Nothing you referenced your decision to religion.. lol

Seriously, if you're basing your decision on religion.. watch the videos.. Bill Maher rules.

He gives them baloney sandwiches only... makes them wear pink... took away all recreation equipment... plus some other good stuff.

That made many angry.

The purpose of a prison system is to keep society safe.

Not entirely. It is also about punishment.

you busted me forgetting the 'should be', I'm not too stressed about it.

I wasn't trying to bust you. I am saying prison is for also for punishing those convicted of crimes and not just keeping society safe.

For example...Capital Punishment is a punishment. It is not a deterrent for capital crimes, it is a punishment for capital crimes committed. That is why I think the argument that the death penalty does not prevent future capital crimes therefore there should not be a death penalty. That is irrelevant to what the death penalty is there for.

The jury knew he did it too but they had to follow along within the limits of the law. They can't express how thy truly feel, they can express their opinions of the evidence presented.

Even though he was innocent of the murder charge before the courts doesn't mean he was innocent of killing Nicole.

Would you trust him and give him a position of authority?

After the verdict, long after, this case split and is still split mainly along racial lines.

And still civilly guilty of wrongful death. He killed her and it was proven outside of criminal court.

No matter how you slice it he killed Nicole and it was proven IN COURT.
