Orlando shooter's AR-15 rifle at centre of U.S. gun-control debate - Canada - CBC News

I would have no problem banning weapons that have a higher likelihood of killing large numbers of individuals.

I believe some here in this thread are trying to point out that you are an individual and as such seeing as how the gun trade is a hot business you would be better off and safer owning one or two.

So, you going with the "Democrats are terrorists" angle?

That's an M 14, not an AR 15......

That's OK, I too am a non-conformist.

:)

Actually, as more and more information about the shooter becomes available it is looking less like terrorism and more like an individual with serious mental health issues acting alone. The claim by ISIS that they had something to do with the attack is highly questionable at this point.

Oh Good God!

Or should I say Allahu Akbar! Like Omar Mateen said.

He did it to gain favour with Allah as he was so conflicted over his own homosexuality. "I hope Allah accepts me" he said.

That will be 5 cents please.

Terrorism. Pure, unadulterated mass murder in the name of Allah.

The particular strain of Mohammed Madness is irrelevant.

Please check the sexual orientation that applies:

____ heterosexual
____ homosexual
____ bisexual
____ Chinese
____ furry
____ I would totally **** a gun if I could

Let's be serious about these gun nuts. The last one should be checked automatically to save time.

All of the above?

Time to ban em! And if criminals choose to disobey the law, then we'll just have to ban em harder.. Lay the ban-hammer down! - Mike Stubbings

Actually the better comparison is with tobacco.

In the USA in 2013, there were 21,175 voluntary gun deaths by suicide.

There were 439,000 deaths due to voluntary use of tobacco.

In the USA in 2013, there were 11,208 gun deaths by homicide, 505 by accident, 281 other causes.........for a grand total of 11,994 involuntary gun deaths.

41,000 people died from second hand smoke.

There is no freedom without risk.

Doesn't "Terrorism" in the usual sense of the word imply a political motivation?

Promotion of Islam and the destruction of Islam's enemies as well as the spreading of terror among the infidels is a political motive.

Islam is both a religious and a political ideology.

It would help and make it slightly harder, but would it stop them? NO, they tend to like bombs and knifes.

Please note that Fluttershy is wearing eyes and ears, and keeping the weapon pointed straight and level downrange.

Fluttershy is very safety conscious.

You'll also note her finger is outside the trigger guard. No, wait. . .

Gun control seems to be connected to people control, which is connected to food supply. How hard was that?

There's glycophosphates in my cigarettes!

Monsanto is the worlds leader in the production of cancer, the cure of which is just billions upon billions of rubles away from in yer medicine chest, modern living, you young people piss me off

That is true in itself, but was it the motivation of the shooter in this instance? The prevailing theory leans more towards self hatred due to sexual orientation, which in turn was directed at other members of the LBGT community. The whole "Muslim Terrorist" angle is more the realm baseless drama from what I've read.

I would say that is as unrealistic as saying that we need to figure out a way to make it harder for criminals to get guns because crazy people are crazy not dumb.

No, not really. I like guns, I have no issue with hunting, target shooting, or even personal protection. I find the stock denial regarding mass shooting extremely dumb. Sandy Hook may not have happened if the Mother of a deranged young man had not had a personal weapon cache. Nobody in the civilian world needs to own a semi automatic or automatic rifle, but the basic facts get tied up in rhetoric as the mass shootings continue.

Nobody NEEDS a TV either, or a painting, or a cheap guitar...
Members of my family ran one of the most exclusive hunting fishing clubs in Canada...
The only one with a charter from the crown giving them WATER rights in the whole country...
semi auto deer rifles everyone of them

especially when they were on ( nuisance ) bears
and the old boys were all front line soldiers in various wars

It's For Your Own Good: London's New Mayor Bans Advertisements Featuring Sexy Women

guess nobody heeds adds with sexy women in them either

But a person has to ask:
Where does the banning stop?

Ah, the hell with it...
We're going muskets only
After doing Ok with bows and arrows (and killing several billions since they were invented) for several thousand years, thats all anybody really needs

...Thoough maybe war clubs should be mandatory

What you don't seem to be getting is that AK-47 type, AR-15 ... and others, like the old FNs that I used to shoot ... are specifically designed to kill humans with the greatest efficiency. The designers did not have deer in mind. They are made to kill in as short a period as is necessary. TV sets, electric guitars and most paintings were neither designed for nor meant to kill people. Neither were steak knives and even if they are potentislly dangerous, they cannot cause mass death in minutes.

My .308 semi automatic rifle (aka a civilian version of the FN) is a wonderful deer, elk, and moose hunting weapon. If it was made specifically for killing people then someone should tell the leftard activists that the features work extremely well for hunting, too.

Gun powder was originally invented as an elixir of eternal life by the Chinese. So you have no right to cast disparaging remarks about it.

Also, warfarin was designed to kill, so you have no right to praise it's ability to prevent heart attacks and strokes.

fail schmail...
all guns are for killing something
and TV is the deadliest weapon ever invented:
without that propaganda it spews those trigger fingers stay home

and a far as WMDs
maybe you oughta turn your attention to NUCLEAR WEAPONS
kinda makes your lil pop guns kinda mute no?

none of these things kill without a finger on the button
why don't you consider banning fingers?

well, all fingers except the one I have for your idea that its OK to be trompling on decent people's rights before they deserve it:
its only the basic concept of western civilization

Gun powder was originally invented as an elixir of eternal life by the Chinese. So you have no right to cast disparaging remarks about it.
and about gunpowder:
The reason the European who figured out its recipe is considered the last great alchemist is because the way you actually turn lead into gold is to turn the lead into bullets
