I'm saying that I see no reason for Miss Talackova to have been denied entry since she has been acknowledged as being a "real" girl.

The case brings up a number of valid points. This one you made is valid. So Miss Universe must be taken to court and the courts decide if it is indeed discriminatory or they change their policies. One or the other.

But other orgs would not accept a person to compete in say the Olympic games for one - Due to unfair advantage, While you can change certain things about a persons body the physiology - genetics are still there.

There was a case a few years ago in the US about a golfer - She (Transsexual) ended up competing - but they changed the rules for the following tournaments.

So im my view discrimination is not the only thing in play.

Locutus, we already know you hit-her-in-the-sh!tter-like-tex-ritter-did-her

For someone who got so bent out of shape by a woman being referred to as a dog, you sure do like to refer to woman in less than classy ways.

This is one the gblt lobby should go after.

I agree, it's a discriminatory policy. Although I'm not entirely supportive of the pagent industry, personally I find it all really superficial. That's just my opinion. But if she wants to participate, she should be given the opportunity.

According to the Star article he never had his sex change until he was 19 years old and started hormone therepy at 14 and it goes on that he wanted to be a girl at the age of 4 years of age so the Miss Universe Canada was right in their decision.

Since the Gay and Lesbian community has a lot more disposible income they should have their own international beauty pagent and he can enter that one he has a good chance of winning.

First of all, she. Second of all, what disposable income? Lastly, never had you pegged for a homophobic bigot, but turns out I was wrong.

It's a shame. I hope that they can appeal this, as she has just as much right to enter the contest as any other woman. She's a woman, regardless of whether she was born with a penis or a vagina.

So Gerry, are you saying if you went and got a vagina, tucked up those manbreasts and got a few facelifts and applied for miss universe that it would be ok?

Totally different. It's not just the physical attributes that make her female.

In today's day and age, when we are talking about equality and equal opportunities in the
workplace and socially, why are we even still having these contests anyway? Everyone
to their own I guess but isn't this contradictory? Even the women if they really believe the
message they send to the public, shouldn't they be defending her?
Liberalman is likely right about the rules, as they are now written, however, when did they
change the rules? This would not even be an issue three decades ago so someone must
have seen this coming.

I would volunteer to check all these poor girls out for no charge, to make sure they were "real women" and all.

The pageant is already discriminatory because it does not allow those that aren't women to participate. I'm not sure why it would be any more discriminatory to reject people because they, at one time, were not women.

I wonder how many hetero males would say honestly that they would feel entirely comfortable initiating a relationship with that unfortunate person?

I find her pretty attractive for all the effort she's put into her transformation. Anyone that goes to that much trouble, effort, cost, sure fire humiliation, teasing and mockery, pain and such...proves to me that they are who and what they say they are.

A simple dood with a wig a lipstick is another story. :p

Been there, done that when I was drunk, Shanon used to be John.. wasn't intentional, big deal, looked female and had all the right parts.. I have since separated that gap with well over 1000 real women.
