its the people who live here and want to water down the holidays and celebrations we have now in order to make other feel welcome.
And what is wrong with that, damngrumpy? The newcomers have a right to try to change holidays and traditions of Canada. They are as much part of Canada as we are, what is the problem if they try to change the holidays and traditions?
we call Christmas the holidays so as to not offend anyone.
Christmas has undergone evolution, changes over the years. To start with, there was no Christmas in North America, Indians did not celebrate Christmas. When Puritans came, they also frowned on Christmas, in Puritan North America, 25th December was just another working day. In Puritan days, it was considered strictly a Catholic festival.
Then we started to celebrate it universally. Now that we have immigrants of non Christian origin, it may undergo yet more changes. Where is the problem? Where does it say that the current version of holidays is cast in stone and must not be changed?
Those who advocate violence should not be allowed into this country or be
allowed to stay here under any circumstances.
Now here I agree with you.
