I was training at CFB Wainright. As it turned out, though, I had a bit of a big mouth about these kinds of things, so they conveniently managed to discard me after nine months. But honestly, I was quite happy to leave after nine months anyway. The activities were fun, actually. It was like getting paid to play wargames. But the attitudes among most of them was too tough a pill for me to swallow after nine months. This was around '93.

The problem

Hi all,
I feel that you have good experiences with Islam and Muslims. Mentioned above, truth and misunderstood facts. However, I think if you like to be fair and to come over any conflicts about Islam & Muslims, you have to ask & listen from median Muslims who know very well about the true median perfect Islam believes and regulations. I am pleased to be here to help answering your questions.

Good day, Hossam. Welcome to CC. You are taking on a big job trying to counter all the hate propaganda that our media and governments have been spewing about Muslims. Another thing I have noticed is that there are very few people who want to know the truth. They seem to be happy having someone else feed them their opinions.

Judaism – The enemy within- are the extremists that cause many moderates to cower as they are threatened with retaliation from within their community– this occurs not only in their country of origin (Israel?) but follows to countries such as Canada – Threats of physical violence and worse are common – along with the major threat that they will be cut off, shunned by the community that is an integral part of their daily life – The minority Hard Liners have considerable influence that is disproportionate to their numbers.

This causes moderates to look away or ignore or pretend that it is nothing and by doing so they protect these radicals – To place their religion above others that have or do not have the same beliefs – Judaism has yet to go thru a reformation that (blank) did – To understand that the Separation of Synagoge and State guarantees everyone freedom of expression and more – to believe or not – to practice their religion without fear of retribution from the State or individuals –

2nd and 3rd generation Jews and other minorities are still a large part that does not fit the average income levels that other immigrants have achieved over the same time – Why is that - ?
The same applies to any Religious Fanatic – or non religious as well. Back you go.

Point – Do not try to read any racism in my post – as that is pure BS -

I have worked with many Muslims for the past 9 years – The vast majority I have found to be honest and very personable – good character – but many new comers to Canada have some difficulty in understanding the separation of church and state – that said a friend on mine – from Somalia – in Canada for quite some time informed me that he had found more racist behavior from other ethnic groups but very little from Canadians that had been here for multi generation – meaning white –Anglos – surprised me a little –

Me I am content within my religion and I try to follow the big 10 as I call them
Lastly – welcome to the forum – I hope you enjoy it.

To you it is BS – But have you talked with many Muslims and the pressures that come from within – Of course that same can apply to any religion – I have never stated other wise –
But integration is key – education and tolerance as well –
You clearly have a problem with that – OK with me -

What would goober replace religion with I wonder?

Darkbeaver

Well with a handle like that you either have a fondness for Dildo’s or wood – If it is a new religion we could name you as leader – I have a few extra 4 x 4’s, 3 spare spikes and I can put you up for the night or 3 – depends I guess.
Or we could eat and drink beer – your choice as omnipotent being -

Yes it very much is Goober.

I liken anyone that disagrees, to the Mayor Bates. A character in the movie Red Dawn. A complete sellout. Someone that would suck up to anyone or thing in power just to survive. Which includes being a rat, informer, stasi puke or otherwise scum of the earth.

I like most Muslims I meet, very hospitable, welcoming people *gasp* just like regular folks. And here's a hint: if you're nice to the old ladies, they'll feed you.

I'm sooo sick and tired of hearing how bad the Muslims are form the biggest baddest bombing terrorists on the planet. Why don't they just get off the planet at the first stop?

The problem is not with the various groups that come to this country, its the people who live here and want to water down the holidays and celebrations we have now in order to make other feel welcome. For instance, we call Christmas the holidays so as to not offend anyone. Muslims wonder why for example, the number two person in their belief system is in fact Christ. The Sheike community
doesn't have a problem with community calling Christmas, Christmas neither do the
Jewish folks and so on. Now I go to church for weddings and funerals otherwise
never there, and I wonder why so many people feel they have to tell someone how
to live. The problem I see with the Muslim faith is that they don't have a central
leadership of strength therefore there are as many factions as there are people at
times. Those who advocate violence should not be allowed into this country or be
allowed to stay here under any circumstances. The Muslim faith has not progressed in centuries and leads to more of a religion based on customs and
traditions than the teachings they started out with, and that becomes a problem
in a modern world

its the people who live here and want to water down the holidays and celebrations we have now in order to make other feel welcome.

And what is wrong with that, damngrumpy? The newcomers have a right to try to change holidays and traditions of Canada. They are as much part of Canada as we are, what is the problem if they try to change the holidays and traditions?

we call Christmas the holidays so as to not offend anyone.

Christmas has undergone evolution, changes over the years. To start with, there was no Christmas in North America, Indians did not celebrate Christmas. When Puritans came, they also frowned on Christmas, in Puritan North America, 25th December was just another working day. In Puritan days, it was considered strictly a Catholic festival.

Then we started to celebrate it universally. Now that we have immigrants of non Christian origin, it may undergo yet more changes. Where is the problem? Where does it say that the current version of holidays is cast in stone and must not be changed?

Those who advocate violence should not be allowed into this country or be
allowed to stay here under any circumstances.

Now here I agree with you.

There's lots of money raised in Canada by Jews and Christian zionists that is sent to Israel to support the genocide they are conducting on the helpless Palestinians and to build Jew only settlements on stolen Palestinian land.

The problem is with this country, is that we didn't establish the rules decades ago.
I used to believe in multiculturalism but less so now. I am thinking a melting pot
would be an answer except for the fact that melting pot really doesn't exist as
people stick in their own groups an never venture outside the small areas where
they live.
I have no problem with people celebrating their own holidays and having their own
traditions, where I have a problem is when some folks want to change the celebrations we have already established and are mainstream.
I don't have a problem with people and traditions except when they want to go by
their own Muslim law like its part of our legal system.
We have established traditions in this country and I maintain that people coming here should respect them, they don't have to observe them but they should respect them. I am not a conservative either in fact I once ran for parliament on the left
of the political spectrum. I may be getting old and cranky but I reserve my
criticism for the few, as most of the minorities I know and are among my friends
do respect our ways as Canadians, and in turn I respect theirs. However there is
a group of people who think we are the evil west. If they don't like it here then
they can always find somewhere else where they would be happy.
