Ahmadinejad: Be assured that the US and Israel will soon end lives Yaakov Lappin Published: 01.23.07, 22:24

Israel and the United States will soon be destroyed, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday during a meeting with Syria's foreign minister, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) website said in a report.

"Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad… assured that the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel will soon come to the end of their lives," the Iranian president was quoted as saying.

"Sparking discord among Muslims, especially between the Shiites and Sunnis, is a plot hatched by the Zionists and the US for dominating regional nations and looting their resources," Ahmadinejad added, according to the report.

The Iranian president also directly tied events in Lebanon to a wider plan aimed at Israel's destruction. He called on "regional countries" to "support the Islamic resistance of the Lebanese people and strive to enhance solidarity and unity among the different Palestinian groups in a bid to pave the ground for the undermining of the Zionist regime whose demise is, of course, imminent."

Ahmadinejad has threatened the State of Israel with annihilation several times in recent months, and has recently added the US and Britain to the list of countries he says will be destroyed.

Syria's Foreign Minister, Wailed Mualem, accused the US of attempting to carry out a "massacre of Muslims" and of sowing "discord among Islamic faiths in the region."

Mualem called on "regional states to pave the ground for the establishment of peace and tranquillity… while preventing further genocide of the Muslims," the IRIB website said.

No big deal. Anyone who's gone through the cuban missle crisis or the US/Russia cold war has heard it all before. Sabre rattling is normal stuff and nothing new.

ya, thats right Bill, even the part about "wining Israel off the map" . I read an article about that, where Ahmadinejad was basically mis-quoted about saying that - although he refused to deny it too he did not come out and say it in that interview.

He just wants people to think that he thinks that, it makes him seem more dangerous, and possibly a hero to his people, you are right.

Funny how the USA and Iran seem to want to build up the same mistaken attitudes in the American or Iranian public. Bush needs a new enemy, and he is creating one in Ahmadinejad...

"WIPED OFF THE MAP" - The Rumor of the Century

"Across the world, a dangerous rumor has spread that could have catastrophic implications. According to legend, Iran's President has threatened to destroy Israel, or, to quote the misquote, "Israel must be wiped off the map". Contrary to popular belief, this statement was never made, as the following article will prove."

HA!!! It turns out it is more posturing, as much by the American corporate media as by Iran's President Ahmadinejad. Mis-quoted, etc etc.

It is important to note that Ahmadinejad did not DENY it outright either, part of the tactic.

It's funny, these outrageous claims by Ahmadinejad are what is causing his support and popularity to fall in Iran.

here is the original news.

Consider also its being translated from Farsi to English:

President:
Demise of US, Israel Imminent
TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem here on Tuesday assured that the United States and the Zionist regime of Israel will soon come to the end of their lives.

According to a statement released by the Presidential Press Office, Ahmadinejad further noted the frequent failure of the plots of the hegemonic system in the Middle-East region, and said that the demise of the US and Zionist regime is imminent.

He further called on the Islamic and Arab states to pave the way for the empowerment of independent and popular governments and establishment of stability, security and progress in the region through enhancing their solidarity, cooperation, unity, resistance and vigilance.

The Iranian president further pointed to domestic problems of the United States, and said that the US President Bush's new plan for the Middle-East serves propagandistic goals seeking to repair the damaged prestige of the US administration and ruling party.

"To continue its presence in the region and attain its colonial goals, the United States seeks to foment insecurity and conflict and undermine independent and popular governments of the region," he continued.

Also stating that the Zionist regime of Israel has been established to pose threats to and invade regional states and sow discord among Muslims, the president underlined, "Sparking discord among Muslims, specially between the Shiites and Sunnites, is a plot hatched by the Zionists and the US for dominating regional nations and looting their resources."

He described the victory of the Lebanese Hezbollah over the Israeli regime as a triumph for the entire Islamic Ummah (nation) in the face of the United States and Zionists, and continued, "Regional countries should support the Islamic resistance of the Lebanese people and strive to enhance solidarity and unity among the different Palestinian groups in a bid to pave the ground for the undermining of the Zionist regime whose demise is, of course, imminent, otherwise, the United States and the Zionist regime's pressures on the Muslim nations will grow several times more than what exists now."

Elsewhere, the president said that Tehran-Damascus relations are developing and deepening, and stressed that the existence of powerful and progressive states in the region is beneficial to the stability and security of the regional nations.

He further called on regional countries to boost cooperation and bilateral and multilateral relations to pave the way for their own progress and power, saying that expansion of the strategic ties between Iran, Syria and Iraq plays a crucially important role in the restoration of peace and stability in the Middle-East.

For his part, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Mualem briefed the Iranian president about the latest conditions in the region and the recent visit to Damascus by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

"Iran and Syria believe that accelerated establishment of stability and security in Iraq serves the interests of the entire region, while continued insecurity and instability in Iraq serves the interests of the United States," he stressed.

Mualem further referred to the efforts made by the US and bullying powers to increase conflicts and massacre of the Muslims and sow discord among Islamic faiths in the region, and called on regional states to pave the ground for the establishment of peace and tranquility in the region through consultation and unity while preventing further genocide of the Muslims.

The Syrian top diplomat described his country's ties with Iran as strategic, and underscored that expansion of bilateral ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Syria serves establishment of stability and security in the region while it also helps to the progress of both nations.

Ah, people plotting the worldwide caliphate sound just as confident of it as Americans and their plans for empire. Well, Islamic fundamentalist politics or Christian fundamentalist politics, it's all the same to this atheist. In my viewpoint, the whole thing is a global chessgame played by fools withhout a clue of what is really important; life on this planet.

Too bad that jerk didn't grow another five inches ... he'd probably be more sane

Hahaha!

Rest assured, Ayatollah Khamenei and the Guardian Council are at the breaking point with Ahmadinejad and the latter may not complete his term of office. There is talk that there might be a call for a new election before the year is out. That would be unprecedented in the post revolutionary period. But it is clear that the majority of Iranis want progression rather than regression as the Islamic Society of Engineers want.

Of course, if the USA and neo-KKKons invade Iran, that will re-energize Ahmadinejad and the ISE.

We should all be grateful for the tremendous strides in science and medicine that have been contributed to the world by Arab nations. Everywhere you look, from their space program to their medical research into AIDS and cancer. Consider how different the world would be if we didn't have the marvel of electricity....or the radio or television or any of the great technological advances made in Arab nations and given freely to the world....

Yeah.....
