The news media is terribly selective in its coverage of family or moral issues. For example, it never bothered to report ''wholesome'' Chrissie Evert's frequent adventures with men and the fact that she announced her engagement to Greg Norman while he was still legally married. She and Norman are now separated but this still gets no attention. She can dump any guy she pleases (and has done so frequently) but still retains the issue of a wholesome All American girl.

By contrast, if a male athlete or celebrity does that he is called a womanizer who is immoral.

But that's the news media's selectivity for you.

there does seem to be a gender bias when it comes to infidelity, in favor of women not men. :-(

The article I read about their separation mentioned all of these facts, plus it gave a figure on how expensive the divorces were...so you can't claim the media ignored it.

Is it just me or is all this attention on celebrity personal lives way over the top?
Every now and again while I'm trying to find my way to a channel with something worth watching I'll pass by one of the scads of trashy celebrity-watching shows. It never fails. Every single time, I'm reminded sharply of a bunch of piranhas swarming around a kill. It's sick. And their attention span is shorter than a gnat's - one second they're ripping apart someone's sex life, the next they've swarmed over to someone's personal battle with addiction or weight gain/loss, or family dysfunction, or some other tidbit that has absolutely nothing to do with how well they are able to entertain us in the venue we actually pay them for ... which would be on the silver screen... NOT in a fishbowl while they struggle with their personal demons. And the people on these shows are downright MEAN! Holy cow, the things they say about people shocks me. What gives them the right to be so horrible... and why are WE watching this crap? Seriously.

Yesterday I as I tried to pry my eyes away (it's like a train wreck) I saw a poll about whether or not a couple should stay together or not. WTH! How far have we sunk when we have to feed off the misery of others like this? And who gives us the right to vote on anything related to a complete stranger's personal life? I find this malicious invasion of privacy downright obscene.

... and I resent like hell that I find myself mesmerized by it all when I'm caught in their twisted little nets as I try to surf past those channels.

That's our entertainment. People sign up for this voluntarily, they create reality shows about their own sordid lives; they implant multiple embyos into their bodies simply to become a celebrity.

It's horrifying, but everyone who is part of the 'celebrity' machine willingly signs up for it. Whether or not they've thought of the consequences.

The Rev. Al Sharpton held a press conference today to blast Tiger Woods for the
lack of diversity among his mistresses. Sharpton claims that the lack of African-
American women among Woods’ harem will have a negative affect on the black
community, specifically young black girls.

How messed up is that?

Apparently this is a joke, originating in a forum that runs fake Al Sharpton lampoons all the time.

BUT..I guess if Tiger had showed some divirsity in his philandering, he would have shown young black girls they can be sumbissive sex toys for married super star athletes.. just as like blonde, blue eyed nordic princesses. Shame on you, Tiger.

Oh, I think they know that, and thanks to Chris Brown, they know they can be successful, talented, and still be a punching bag for an azzhole.

Like you, I saw ONE article.

But where was the media circus when she openly engaged in adultery with Norman while he was still legally married?

Had that been a noted male athlete with a famous married female actress or athlete, what would the media have reported?

Pardon me: I meant to say ''image'', not issue.

And as Spaminator said, there does seem to be a double standard in favor of women.

Chris Evrett has been out of the spotlight for years, no one cares what she is
doing these days, and also Greg Norman isn't at the top of anything anymore either,
the media follow the latest fad.

...and I'm a married man. ;)

I am disgusted that the infotainment industry (formerly known as the news) has subjected yet another family to a public humiliation. Sort of reminds me of the Clintons or Lady Diana. Just because people are rich and famous does not mean vultures should be allowed to feed on their carcasses. Privacy is a right. Outside of the immediate family this is no one's business and it certainly isn't news.

Now this "scandal" has reached the point where its destroying a person's ability to earn a living.

In support of Tiger Woods and his family, I admit that I slept with Tiger too. Anyone else want to 'fess up? Consider it a vote against this sort of media abuse.

You're nuts, the guy is over 21, probably has an I.Q. over 21 and makes his own choices. There are a lot of hardworking honest people in the world who are struggling and can use help, while this a$$hole is raking in $millions. I have zero sympathy and zero tolerance for this bull$hit.

That all seems OK, for a 'single' man.
