Gordon Lightfoot is one of the best folk singers in the world.

Yep, Canada has produced a lot of good singers but none can hold a candle to old Hank Snow with Wilf Carter coming in a close second. An then I guess STompin' Tom would be number three.

Are any of you real Canadians at all? I have yet to see mention (although arguably I may have missed it) of The Tragically Hip.

I would have mentioned them if I thought they were any good :p

I can't really stand the guy's voice.... it's more monotoned then REM's sound. The only song of theirs I liked and thought was done well was "Ahead by a Century" but everything before and after that hasn't impressed me much.

I just never got why they were/are so popular.

But you've got to admit, her shampoo commercials are good.

And even more of an accomplishment, she made Avril Lavigne sound talented.

lol, true.... if you forget about that whole attempted lawsuit against Avril for not putting her name down on the credits of her album..... friggin poser skank..... god I hate Avril..... where's that I hate Canadians thread?

But unfortunatly, her shampoo commerical is showing her age a bit.... then again, I guess she was always a little old for me :p Not that I wouldn't mind clearing the bats from her cave still.....

Oh snap, no I didn't!

Well, one can sing.... the other just..... well.... can't. Sorry, but I honestly don't believe that Gordon Downie has any talent with singing. Sure he maybe able to write some good lyrics here and there, but when you open your mouth and nothing but a shakey-nazzelly sound comes out like someone's got your testicles in a vice grip..... there's something wrong.

I think the Hip would be pretty damn good if they had another singer, but then again, as most say, it wouldn't be the Hip anymore.

To each their own. I'm just explaining why I didn't mention them myself.

And besides, Chantel is hot.... besides having some impressive songwritting skills and some memorable songs.

I don't follow too many female artists and their music, not because I'm sexist, but because I usually don't relate to their stuff..... but Chantel K. and Sarah M. are probably the two best female artists/singers Canada has put out in a long long time.

My ALL TIME FAVORITE CANADIAN...

Oh well...

It's Neve Campbell.

Whoa, is she still alive? :p I haven't heard anything from her corner of the universe in a long long time.

I think the last time I seen her in anything was Wild Things (Pretty lame movie)

But since I'm here, I'll pimp out some Nova Scotia talents:

First Up The Trews:
YouTube - The Trews - "Hold Me In Your Arms"
^ I've noticed they pulled the similar style from the Tea Party's Babylon video:
