Been following the Canucks a bit this season, talloola. Good to see them doing as well as they are- goes to show what a decent coach and a change in management upstairs can do for a team.

The trip down south will be a good test for the team. Wishing them good fortune.

I'm not sure what's better-seeing the Canucks come back with 5 unanswered goals or seeing Patrick Roy's nose rubbed in it.

Yep, it just doesn't get any better than that. Canucks did what good teams do................persevere through adversity. Actually I think they outplayed the Avs through 3 periods! Hopefully this will be the toughest game on the road trip.

it was important to win this first game, makes the next one 'not' look so difficult, cAnucks lost to
colorado last time becAuse it was the second game of a back to back, and they got outskated bigtime.
they showed colorado tonight their real team, not the tired one.

if they can get by san jose on thursday, that would be huge, as those last two games will be the most
difficult, especially anaheim, second game of back to back again, against one of the best teams in
the conference.

even two wins on this trip will be acceptable, and anything over that will be icing on the cake.

nice game for bo horvat, he looked just fine, and it was such a thoughtful move by desjardin to put
him in, to take the opening faceoff.

miller again played very solid, looks so calm and relaxed while making difficult saves, i'm impressed.

burrows will be bAck on thursday, don't know whAt changes desjardin will make, maybe horvat will sit
out.

They are second in the entire league now...............I'd like to see them take all the games on this trip and establish themselves early in the season!

yeah, i suppose that is the ultimate, but i don't expect that. the back to back against anaheim will
be very difficult, unless anaheim all have the flu, there is no reason why they don't win that
game. anyway, they have 2 games before that, which will also be difficult.
i will be ok with 2 out of the four and 3 would be really good.

i don't really want them to be at the top of the league 'now', far too early, then there is no where
to go but down, and to stay there 'all' season is a difficult task, then when playoffs come, again
they would be going into playoffs at the top, i don't like the odds of the top team in league winning
the stanley cup.

my comfortable zone for them would be 'to' stay somewhere in the top six or so in the league, and even that
is asking a lot, and also stay in a playoff spot within their division.

and of course no one knows about what injuries will creep into the team along the way.

The way things were working last night in the last half of the game, I don't think I would change anything. Horvat is potentionally
the Canucks next big star. He was good in that game against Colorado and he is going to get a lot better

Anaheim is going to lose (on one of those given days when anything can happen) Canucks are the best candidate right now who can deliver on that.:)
Being at the top of the league didn't prevent Edmonton from winning the cup 4 times in the 80s:)

My theory is you get to the top early and stay there so you have a cushion if the going gets tough or there are key injuries later on.
Have a good day, Talloola.

i certainly agree with you about horvat, but when the team is going so good, all lines are playing well,
and the wins are coming, a coach must be careful about pulling a player out of the lineup from a line
that is working well. he will figure it out, he will be fair, and he will make sure all the players
who are part of their success right now, don't get hauled out of the lineup when they are playing well.
bo horvat is the one player who would understand that, and he can deal with it, he is so young, and he
has another 8 games to play before they have to decide if he is staying or not, so desjardin can pick
and choose the right games for him to play in.
horvat right now isn't a big time goal scorer, he is a responsible player, a strong kid for his age, and
he can be trusted any time to play good on the defensive side of the puck.
if the team was stumbling, can't score goals, and was desperate for help, that would be different.

if, over the next 8 games he keeps getting better, and can prove to the coach he should replace a player,
then desjardin can do that, but at this time i don't see any player on the team right now, who should
come out of the lineup for him to take their place.
it worked well because burrows was out on suspension, but he will be back tomorrow, so as i think about
each line, i can't pick a player to take out of the lineup, not one.

don't fool around with something that is going very well right now.

i thought you would remember the problems canucks had when they stayed on top for so long, hadno momentum
going into the playoffs, whereas other teams who had to keep playing their best to get in the playoffs,
or keep their playoff spot, played better. canucks cruised along winning, winning, and lost their
ability to 'fight' hard, and 'work' hard, iremember they winning games where they weren't even playing
their best, not a good recipe for playoffs.

to compare any team in todays game to 'that' edmonton team is ludicrous, hasn't been a team like that since,
and in todays hockey even that team would not do what they did then, as todays game is so much different,
just listen to gretzky talk about todays game, and he will convince you.

we have much different views of what we like to see, will have to agree to disagree, nothing wrong
with that.

Detroit vs Ranger 2-3 at the moment with a couple of minutes left in the match

always enjoyed these old rivalries as they take me back to the good old days of the NHL - being an old schooler I much preferred hockey before the expansion - but I also know it just wouldn't work if we went to the Original Six as the league would lose a ship load of money every year

just saw the winning goal by rangers, watched a bit of this game. yeah, can't live in the past, i grew up
watching the original six too, loved the habs, they were my team to cheer for since i was about 9 yrs old.
the hockey today is much more detailed, players are far better skaters, and much bigger. the game today
is coached so much better, defense has so much strategy, in those days, the guys were smokers, beer
drinkers, (they say lefeur smoked a whole pack of cigs the day of a game). all the players have to be able
to play the game now, no goons, no slow grinders, all good skaters, and have to contribute.

the hockey is great today, no more dynastys, i can see that this season will be a fight to the finish
allready, lots of teams who were not so competetive last year are better, and the teams that we expect
to be at the top aren't right now, i know they will improve, but i like it this way, i like lots of
competition from lots of teams, and no obvious leaders.

actually, it's "Good Old Gump" Worsley:

Gump Worsley | Dennis-Kane.com ———Since 2007

What a character! They don't make 'em like they used to!!

oh yeah, thats who it is, they kind of look alike. i just looked up the story on sawchuck, what
a life he had, he did play for the rangers for one season, but he also played for detroit, toronto,
los angelos and boston i think.

he died at 40. alcoholic, had seven children, became abusive, his wife divorced him, he was horsing
around with a teamate one day in their hotel room, and they scuffled, and sawchuck fell on the other guys knee, and had two surgerys
because of liver damage, finally died as a result, seems from a blood clot.

worsley became very chubby as his career went along, looked the pillsbury dough boy at times. lol

Just got to thinking today, the Canucks have a bigger worry than those California teams......................Calgary, if the Canucks don't beat a couple of them this week, Calgary could start getting ideas, especially as the Canucks play them more than the California teams. :)

cAlgary have a very good team this season, its about time, should be fun.

Same division!

Scratch that, I was having a senior's moment. :) but anyway Calgary could still be a threat.

in the same division they play them the same amount of times, or do you have some info
that i don't

yes calgary can be a threat, along with many teams. i do not expect teams such as chicago, san jose and
certain others to linger down the stats list for long, i'm sure those teams will find their way up the
list over time, and the standings will become very close and crowded.
i like it that way, i like lots of teams battling each other for positions, including the canucks,
i'm not that nieve to think canucks are going to go to the top, stay there, and no other teams
will challenge them, not going to happen, and as much as so-called real canuck fans want them to
lead the way all thru the season, i don't, i want them to have to battle.
i wish edmonton would start winning some games again, they are without taylor hall, makes a big difference
to that team, he is their best player for most of the games.
the islanders and the ducks are in OT as we speak. islanders have a real nice
team this year, tavares, one of the top players in the NHL
islanders just scored the OT winner, scored by tavares, second of the game for him.
